Need Help With Subwoofer Decision!!

Of the 3 you mention I'm partial to the Energy S10.3. Should be under $200 at newegg. Sometimes the Klipsch RW-12D is on sale for $300. That would eclipse the others.

I think you are under allocating spending on the sub given the quality and capability of your speakers and receiver.

You have a high end AVR with extremely sensitive dynamic speakers that can get very, very loud, and you are looking at budget level subs. What size is your room in cubic feet, including any adjoining open areas? Room size is a big determinant in sub choice for HT usage. Even in a medium sized room, none of those subs will keep up with those Klipsch if you are running them at the loud volumes they are capable of...unless you want to sit on the sub

Better to wait a little while until you can afford a better sub.

I would wait till you can have a budget of 600.00 for a nice sub to compliment your already nice system because throwing a 300.00 sub at your system would be like replacing your TV of 50 inches with one of 24.

I don't know how large your room is but another sub to consider is the Jamo Sub650. That one is being sold for less then half of MSRP, so it's a pretty good deal.

With all due respect to Jim:

Just to let people know that the Jamo 650 listed above doesn't come with the manufacturers warranty. Instead you get a single year warranty from Warehouse Buys. Personally I would feel uncomfortable not having the manufacturers warranty.

One of our members bought 2 Jamo D7 at 25% of the MSRP and one of them proved defective. He had a devil of a time trying to get service. Neither Jamo or Vanns wanted to take responsibility for service.

I have to assume that Warehouse Buys in NOT AUTHORIZED to sell Jamo. If you have any problems who knows what kind of service you would get from Warehouse Buys.

IMHO you would do better with a pair of Energy S10.3's from Newegg for a little more than the Jamo.

Newegg is Authorized to sell Energy = full manufacturer's warranty.

As already mentioned you have very nice and efficient speakers and a good AVR that you probably spent a good amount of money on for all of them.... So now don't skimp out on the sub. The sub plays a very crucial role in HT.

$500-$600

More likely:
Above $600 but under $1k

The Rythmik FV12 is discontinued for now until its re-release sometime next yet. Otherwise I agree completely. Also while mostly unknown and untested I would keep my eyes on the upcoming subs from Power Sound Audio. With former members of SVSound starting this company, I bet they will make solid products.

Don't know if interesting to you but there's a great deal on Amazon for a Infinity PSW310 in Piano Black and an even better deal on the same model in Cherry. Even comes with a wireless setup. 75-80% off retail, which doesn't mean much except that it makes it a reasonably priced sub especially since shipping was included (I went for the Cherry finish even tho the pic is kinda fugly). Going into my bedroom setup. Was looking on Craigslist for a while for something decent in the same price range, and this way it gets delivered.

That would indeed be the deal...might not dig real low but figure I can maybe use that transmitter on my main sub for a location I wouldn't want to wire for...
