Denon 1612 or Marantz 1402 or something else?

Planning on buying one of these.. which would you go with and Why? I know they are both the 2011 models but both would serve my purpose well. Is there something comparable to them that would be a good fit as well?

I've always been an Onkyo guy (803 in my living room, 605 in bedroom) but just bought an LG LM8600 for bedroom and the 605 won't do 3d so I need a new receiver.

Thoughts/opinions?

One major distinguishing factor is their size: the 1612 is a full-height receiver while the 1402 is a small-form-factor receiver with relatively low power amplifiers.

To give you a point of reference, the speakers they are going to drive are Klipsch Quintet II or IIIs (can't remember) so they aren't very heavy duty/high powered.

the 1402 has Component inputs and the 1612 does not. Don't have any real need for it, but if I decide to bring the wii in the room would be nice to connect.

1612 has the connection for iPhone/iPad (have both) so that too..

Also can get 1612 for about a hundred less.

2/3 vs 1/3 features. Sounds like the 1612 is more appropriate for your situation if you have the room.

I'm struggling with a similar comparison, the Denon AVR 1713 vs Marantz SR5007 a four hundred dollar price difference.

3D pass through vs 4k pass through. Based on what's been shared and pointed out, the 1713 is winning the battle.

Between the 1613 and the 1713, one gets five more watts per channel but to me, the big plus is, Audyssey MultEQ XT vs Audyssey MultEQ. The XT gives you better rendition of room sound characteristics with the Audyssey MultEQ XT vs Audyssey MultEQ. Is that worth fifty bucks to you?

Crutchfield has a crazy good break down in the equipment description section.
