What do I add next?

Right now I have a 2.0 system with Paradigm Studio 10s with the eventual goal of going 5.1. My question is what is the next logical step to take, do I add a center, a sub, or surrounds first? Does it matter or is it just personal preference? Any help?

Thanks.

Personal preference. I'd add a subwoofer first, then the center speaker.

Surrounds would definitely be last.

Plus 1. I have Paradigm Monitor 9's and I just bought a Rythmik FV15. Awesome sub and works great with the Paradigms.

Well I think you should add the surrounds first.
Your fronts can probably do good bass and create a phantom center easily, but only the surrounds will give that extra dimension.

Frequency response of Studio 10's is 62hz - 22khz. I wouldn't call that good bass. Decent at best.

I would aim for a sub

With small front speakers like the Studio 10, your system is definitely bass-shy!

I would want to get a decent subwoofer ASAP!

I suggest either the NHT B12D or the Rythmic FV12.

If you are in your own home, not renting an apartment, then I would get a sub next.

Add the Studio 60s or 100s and use the 10s as surrounds. Gives you bass and surrounds killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

I agree with most above....

I would definitely add the sub next as your fronts are pretty small.....

Then, if your fronts create a decent phantom center, I would add surrounds as the second upgrade....

If they don't, I would go center channel second on the list to upgrade....

Thats just the way I would do it.....

I take it back, I wasn't thinking. I agree with your speakers you should go with a subwoofer first. That's what enticed me to get home theater in the first place.
You can get some surrounds pretty cheap too.

OK, that's what I was thinking but wanted to see if I was on track. Thanks to all.

Be sure to research and ask questions in the AVS subwoofer forum. There are some good values in subwoofers out there--and many more that are way overpriced for what you get.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882269026&Tpk=energy%20s10.3

I got it for 180$ on sale. its 219$ right now but this bad boy beats subs well above its price. Its very very strong. 200 W continuous and 800 Dynamic peak
