Your usual volume setting number

Just wondering what your usual volume setting is during regular programming.....I'm usually between -19 and -30. I have a Marantz SR7001. Don't think I ever went into the + zone.......biggrin.gif

volume settings are relative.

Audyssey sets "0" as reference in your receiver for each channel.  If you change the level(gain) on any of the channels the number settings no longer correlate to anything.

I normally listen with my volume setting at -15 for normal listening and might push to -12 for an action or sci-fi flick with heavy bass and sound depending on mix.  My speakers realistically cannot get to reference without an enormous amount of distortion so thats where I cap the dial.

On my Onkyo 809, I usually start at about 68 for blu-ray movies and adjust accordingly depending on the mix for any particular disc. I hate it when previews and other features aren't included by default at the same volume level as the movie itself.
