Looking for a reasonably priced Passive 3DTV set, 50" or more

Last year I picked up a 40" Sony HX800 for my first 3D experience. While I have enjoyed some of my 3D experience, my wife has complaints about the heavy Active glasses, and I find them a little irritating as well. They tend to make my brow sweat, the ones we have are NOT rechargeable so require new batteries fairly often, and the things are just plain uncomfortable overall - and that's not even mentioning the cost of the dang things.

I also had a hard limit on the SIZE of the TV due to an existing entertainment center. Well, we're buying a new house, and that old entertainment center is now scrapped. I've tried searching on a few sites, but they don't seem to have the attribution in place to easily differentiate between active and passive sets. I don't have any particular brand loyalty, and it doesn't need to be gigantic, but something 50" or more would be nice. Any recommendations?

LG is the way to go! I started with the Panny VT25 - was under'wow'ed with the dark 3d image and min ghosting. Moved over to the LG passives and LOVE the quality of the 3d images on the TV. So much so that I have a 55inch upstairs and just recently sold off our projector setup in the basement and picking up a 65" tonight for the basement!

I got the 65LM6200 at the end of May and really like it. The 3D is phenomenal and the 2D is great after some tweaking as well. My only complaint is how reflective the screen is.

From what I can gather, folks pick that set due to it being the only passive LG 65" available. If I were going to go with a 55", would I be better served with one of the higher end LG models? Like maybe the 55LM7600?

Yes, you would be better off with the 7600 due to higher picture performance, higher refresh rate, and slimmer bezel (if that's important to you). Often times there is a very minimal price difference between the 6200 and the 7600 and sometimes the price of the 7600 is lower than the 6200. I do find it odd though that the 65" 6200 has a more reflective screen compared to smaller sizes in the same model.

I think that may be due to the smaller sizes using IPS panels while the 65s use AUO.
