Just curious to see if anyone bothered to send the seller of the 818's on videogon for $699 an email?
Onecall is offering the 818 or $865.00 shipped, but I claim it hasn't sold for under that--which it has per this thread.

I just bought my Onkyo 818 last week from an authorized dealer in FL for $830 shipped. I am not sure if they have any left or if they are still honoring the sale but you can contact them if you are interested:

Got mine from Onecall for $830 shipped last week. They started with $865, I countered with $800 then she put me on hold for a minute or two. When she came back she offered $830 if I purchase now. I went for it and am very happy with the unit and the price. I would call them prepared to purchase and negotiate a deal.

It's not much but Amazon has reduced the price to $1089...first time they've had it below msrp since end of July. If Onkyo is allowing merchants to advertise below msrp again, hopefully we'll finally see everyone competing on price again, driving the advertised prices back down to the low $800s where they were in July. And maybe by black Friday we'll find some real deals.

I really wish I could score a denon 4311 for this price but not going to happend.. Would love to see a 800 shipped I might just bite then

That seems like a really good deal. I'm in the market for a new receiver (making the cutover from component to HDMI - currently have a TX-NR901) and I see that OneCall's price is now 1199 frown.gif

Finally bit the bullet. After weeks of driving myself nuts on if I should not spend 500 bucks more on the denon 4311.. I bought the Onkyo 818 for 820 shipped..

Did you just call them up, say you wanted to purchase the unit, and ask what they could do on the price?

Just bought from One Call. $840, free shipping. Their web price is $1199 Called JR first. They wouldn't go below $1,000

Planning on pulling the trigger on one of these in the next few days. So is Onecall the generally accepted "best place" to get one right now?

I just decided to take a chance and bought one from Amazon Warehouse Deals. They've lowered them to $656. It arrived this afternoon so haven't had a chance to play around with it much yet. It has a small dent in the upper rear corner but it's not very noticeable. So far it's working fine.

So I called One Call this evening and spoke with Ryan. At first he gave me the line of "the new Onkyo's aren't being discounted at all right now". He offered me an open box for $819.92. I then told him I was hearing that others were getting much better deals on the new units. He said he could look up what the lowest sale price was in the last 90 days and could give me that. Ended up getting it for the $840 and he upgraded my shipping to three day air for free. I'm pleased with that deal, and I'll have it before the long Thanksgiving weekend - I know what I'll be doing then. Thanks to all on this forum for all of the helpful info. Really looking forward to hearing XT32 - I'm upgrading from a 607 with 2EQ.eek.gif

Thanks a lot for posting this deal! I bought one at $699.

i bought one too for 699. what a deal...

It's a bit of a downgrade from my current Onkyo TX-NR1007 on the amp section I'm assuming because I'm going from THX Ultra 2 cert to THX Select 2 cert
but I'm getting Audyssey multi eq xt and the ability to control the AVR from my android device which I'm really going to dig I think.

Sweet! Thanks, just cancelled my Newegg order and bought from Amazon. Surely it won't go any lower than this.
