Maybe, but I don't think this model is being replaced soon, so I hope when the 4 digit models become available, the 818 price actually drops some. And didn't you say you remember the previous version going for $700 at times?

I think 818 price will come down more before it goes back up. Remember, Newegg has not yet participated in the sale yet. That's when you'll see much lower price

I hope Newegg sells the 1010, the 3010, and the 5010. I believe they only sold up to the 809 last time around. They had some excellent deals on the 3008 and 5008 when they were selling them.

It was $629 at newegg with coupon. I'm sure the onkyo 818 will be well below $700 before years end, but the 818 just may be onkyos # 1 best seller this year.

J&R and OneCall have raised the price back up to msrp ($1199) for some reason, and EE appears to be out of stock. Sure hope prices don't adjust back up for some reason. Amazon and Vanns still have it at $829; I'm almost tempted to play it safe and buy at that price.....but think I'm going to take my chances. Just hope Onkyo hasn't raised the 818 price for retailers so that it doesn't take away too much business from the new 1010, 3010, and 5010 that are now available.

Don't worry my friend, as soon as the boat load from china is unloaded it will once again become a buyer's market ! You should be seeing onkyo 818 under $700 from newegg very soon, as early as labor day, but black friday will be just crazy, I'll take two at that price !!

Now that 3010 and 5010 are out, the 818 is less talked about. So, I think the time for fire sale is close. <$700 like last year? Maybe not. With new features and inflation accounted, I think it's probably around $750 :-)

Yes, I saw that too. Everyone seems to be going back to MSRP. Wonder what is prompting that. That's over a $300 increase.

They won't sell new units at that price, but now is a great time to dump your used onkyo 818 !!!

So apparently people are being told by dealers that Onkyo is enforcing MSRP pricing right now. Hopefully that changes soon.

Yep, that's clearly the motive. Hard to sell a 1010 when the very similar 818 is going for $1000 less. I just hope it falls back to at least the mid $800s by October when I was planning to purchase.

I submitted the price on Onecall site last week and got countered to $829 (last popular street price). Not sure if they are still doing that price. I will get mine tomorrow.

Seems like all the places selling it have the $1,199.00 again.

They sell it .You have to ask the salesman .You won't see the good stuff on the website or in the stores.I chose them because they can fix this stuff .The last to avrs I bought off the web died in less then 3 years .I swore never again.

although the post is several years old, Onkyo always re-uses the same hex codes. I'm assuming you're wanting to load this to a Harmony remote. Hopefully this post helps

I'm wondering if Best Buy and other retail stores are somewhat behind the MSRP initiative? Seems awfully coincidental that about the time this unit shows up on the BB website for sale everyone goes up to MSRP. Just wondering if they complained to Onkyo since they really can't compete with the online retailers at the price it was a couple weeks ago.

No, pretty sure Onkyo has forced all authorized dealers to list it at msrp since they've just introduced the new 1010,3010,5010. Best Buy can sell their products for the same prices as the online authorized dealers if they choose to; so if they can't compete, it's their own fault, not Onkyo's.

And why would anyone want to do that?
