LG PB60G LED 1280x800 500 LUMENS - Page 3

hi,

i guess i am in the right place here
i did a strange project. I wanted to find the perfect LED beamer for me. So i bought 5 LED Beamers from amazon:
LG Pb60G, Acer K330, LGHX301G, LG HW300Y, Optima ML500
Important for me as using it private and for business Presentations was:

small for travelling
silent
good picture quality
easy to handle
brightness
sharpness
remote control
file viewer and various fle acceptance
internal speaker

After two days testing me favourite is the LG pb 60 G
it includes everything i need. is not as loud as the K330 in eco mode, is tiny, has good internal speakers, and great picture quality.
The only problem is, that it doesn´t load big powerpoint presentations from my usb stick with the file viewer which would be very important for me.
Does anybody know how to update the file viewer? I guess its kind of old one. The version is older then the on on the LG HW300Y. Or could it be because of less RAM?

If i can solve the problem, the LGPB60 would definitely be my first choice.

Thanks a lot for your help and pls apologize for my english smile.gif

great experience. there is also Qumi Q5. It has very great picture and colors. i think it is the only one from the bunch which has glass optic instead of plastic.

thanks ... but i guess all these beamers are a good choice but i have to decide whats most important for.
after 3 days of testing i have to decide between LGHW300Y and the LG PG60
both are really good. Best picture definitely the LG HW 300Y, perfect file viewer... same as the newer LG PG60 but version 3x and no problems in reading big powerpoint files.
Minus for the loudness of the cooler.. more silent then the K330 and the optimus..but lil bit louder then the PG60, and not as tiny as the PG60.
hard decission. After all i guess i prefer the LGHW 300Y. Nice gimmic is also the wlan function even i could not try it.
I also heard i can update the firmware with a french one to have 16:9 except auf 16:10
what do you guys think of my ideas?

thanks a lot

Is the LG PB60g can be ceiling mounted? Because I only saw a camera tripod hole on the center of it.

I bought this projector a couple of days ago and am overall very pleased with it. The only reference I have is the acer k11 that I got a chance to try last year. Ever since I was hooked on the idea of LED projectors. Just wanted to let everyone know who's interested in this unit, Amazon Germany will have it on sale today starting at 6pm...

ernie72,

These units do not work directly from a blu ray player regarding 3D playback, you have to use a properly set-up PC.

Thanks for replying, so the only way to play 3d movies is trhu my pc, is any program that i can download to play them?
Well it takes a bit of tinkering, I would suggest you read through a bit of the PA70G thread here... http://www.avsforum.com/t/1405666/lg-pa70g-led-1280x800-700-lumens

All the info you need is in there, most of it is covered over the last few weeks.

Best of Luck,
Jason

You need a software like the Cyberlink Power Dvd12, Arcsoft TMT5 or the Corel Win dvd to play 3d materials on your PC. These softwares are not for free.

My PB60G just came yesterday... need to get my HW300G on eBay now...

I bought it from pixmania.co.uk - and they tell me that they don't include a lens cap with the unit, following my query with them as it showed up without one.

Having searched the net for parts, I can't seem to source one myself... does anyone know where you can get one that fits?
I bought the one with the tuner and I am impressed. Picture quality is excellent. I am used to a Mitsu DLP projector in my basement, and this looks just as good. It doesn't have the same lumens, but it's plenty bright in a semi light controlled room. I cannot get over how good the image looks even at 120"+. All this for $400, it's a steal.

Edit:Links works now ! tongue.gif
I present my last DIY for my PB60G, the mirror multifunction smile.gif
Cost:1,50 €
Pros:You can see screens in, practically, any position. Ideal to use in ceiling and to visualize from the bed. Distances take advantage to the maximum of floor/ ceiling or wall / wall. Possibility of projecting in a table or floor.
Cons:Use the correction Keystone. I have to say that it was waiting for worse results but one is OK. I do not estimate distortion in the image. To project in the ceiling I have used a double drop-down mirror of cost 0,60 € (for lack of the definitive this one it is with form of flower biggrin.gif)

Video, vision from sofa and from the floor. Screen of 72 "

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPVW3gQYJxw

To project in table or floor I have used a mirror with recliner foot of cost 0,90 €

Videos, projecting in table (in a tablecloth of the reverse with many folds tongue.gif) approximately 55 " and in floor (the same tablecloth) approximately 70 "

To project from wall to wall placing the projector in vertically. When it wants to take advantage to the maximum of the distance of the room and it one is not had disables where to place it or is not possible his location.I have used a chair as example but if we fix a screw of tripod in the wall, the projector mates with this one and already we can project to the wall of face.

Finally to comment that this costs for small projectors, but to see in the ceiling with the projector in the floor, with a big projector and a folding identical mirror to the size of the lens also it must give good result. Useful for those that do not have his installed projector of fixed form. I hope that you have liked

You likely already know this but you'll see much better results with a first surface mirror.

Guys I am planning to buy either this led or the pa70. I just want to know if both projector is easy to get it focused?

I asked this cuz i've read that on the pa70 theres some issues regarding getting it to focused properly and I've tried an optoma one, ml500 and it was a hard one as well on nailing it to focused. It also get out of focused in sometime even though no one is touching it....

So what do you think guys?

If you are that concerned with focus and sharpness, why look at a 720p projector?

Espetodesardina ? the last 2 pictures is that Godzilla with a McHappy Face ? or shrinked to size ? biggrin.giftongue.gif
post #84 of 165
Yes Verge my wish list would be the new Panasonic's PT-RZ470 with 1080P, but that's LED powered unless I go with a Old Gen projector with bulb.

However George, Abe, Alex and Andrew is telling me I can't afford it now and settle with a 720P LED projector now.

Have not heard from Franklin lately in what he has to say on that biggrin.gif;)
You might want to hold out a month or 2 to try and get a later production model of the LGPA70G in hopes that LG got the bugs worked out with the focus.

Either LG means Life's Good ?

or Lame Glass Lens.biggrin.gif

Focus has been great on mine. Nice clear sharp picture, and considerably bright even at over 100".

Espetodesardina, I have to choose now between PA70G or PB60G. I know that PA70G is more brighter but I really amazed by your posted images on your PB60g. I am more on picture quality, and I only use this pj for movies only. Do you think that PB60g will be the best choice?

I value more portability, size and versatile of this wonder mini pj that theoretical lack of lumens over his brother PA70G
For me it is the best option.Picture quality is awesome in a pj smaller than a dvd case.

I just purchased this PJ and I would say it is a good deal at $349, but I no longer even see it on Fry's website, let alone at that price. I personally wish I could have held out another month or so and waited for the LG PA70G to go on sale again at $399, as that extra bit of lumens would make a bit of difference for my situation. Going from the "maximum" bulb saving (eco mode) to "minimum" (full 500 lumens) is quite noticeable, and I can't help but wonder how much nicer the picture would be with an extra bump up in lumens. My PJ is in a completely light controlled room, although the side walls are an off white color, which may be why I need the extra lumens.

On a different note, has anyone seen blue spots on a totally black background with this pj? I am guessing this is dust, is there any way to remove these on the led clones?
