Thanks for all of your recommendation, espeto! Those settings helped a little, but I am not able to access many of the expert menu settings because I am using hdmi from my video card. I will try the settings through the RGB connection later.

Edit: Okay, got the menu settings back somehow, but here is another question for you espeto, what kind of screen do you have/or is there any gain like 1.3 or more? To be honest, these screenshots look a little better than the picture that I am seeing.

Definitely an improvement, but I am wondering if you have some sort of high gain screen, or I just got a projector with less lumens.

My screen is normal,no gain 1.3 or more.
Try HDMI port with a Bluray or multimedia player with mkv archive and set my configuration complete.
HD material is very important if you want quality on screen.
How inches have your screen?
Have you put the maximun level of brightness (Lumens)?

I am wondering how bright it is in person, because what I can see on your posted pictures are too dark. Is the 500 lumens on your PB60G suffers brightness for movie watching?

The pictures were taken with the camera on manual settings, the pictures have been underexposed. Both shots taken at shutter 1/6 sec F3.5 but first shot at ISO100 second at ISO80. Difficult to compare the shots when the pics have been taken with different settings.

Yes, that is correct. I wanted to give as accurate a depiction of what I was seeing, thus the 1/6 shutter speed and 3.5 aperture. Are you suggesting I use "Auto" or just the same ISO? If so, please explain. I feel Manual settings at the same shutter and aperture are much more accurate than just getting random "Auto" settings. As I had mentioned, the screens look a little better than what I saw for that particular frame, but were the most accurate after experimented quite a bit with the camera. I had taken many shots at ISO 100 and later a few at 80 (there really is not much difference on this camera) and those two pictures happened to be framed much closer together compared to the other ones so that is why I chose them. Any suggestions as to what settings I should use to accurately show what I am seeing, andysm?

Also, espeto, these were taken with the maximum lumens (or "minimum" energy saving setting.) My screen is 98" and the video was from a 9GB 1080p rip of the Dune Blu-ray.

I think we would agree that espetodesardina did an amazing job taking photos of his setup. Also, I like how he is using mirrors, very cool.
I'm not sure the rest of us could do any better than those photo's. Award making.
If the price on the pa70g and 60 are the same or 50 dollar difference, I would buy the pa70g, without any hesitation .
But if the the 60 was 200-250 dollars cheaper, I would have think about it.
The best sale on fry's so far is pa70g 399 dollars and the PB60G 349 dollars ... the pb60g would have to be 199 dollars for me to consider it, and I don't see it going that low yet, do you?

The PA70G is superior in brightness and colors are more vivid by the 200 lumens extras.
That is obvious.
I chose the PB60G because I love his size and potential.
I see a great achievement that quality in a mini size, for me has more merit than PA70G.
In Spain PB60G is 120 € cheaper than PA70G, are $ 160 in USA.
The PA70G what you have had very cheap at Fry's, $ 399 is € 298 in Spain ...
A bargain, you have very lucky to buy so cheap.
I hope LG or another company can get a 1080p projector LED below the 700 € (936 $) and if it can be small I would be very happy.
I am fascinated by these gadgets reduced in size.
The next thing I'll try after the ceiling mount and the mirror is a mini Android PC connected to the USB port of the projector.
Browse, play games, emulators, reading comics and books are some of the possibilities that add PB60G cheaply.
This way you have a myriad of utilities maintaining its portability and ease of placing and project anywhere where you can not imagine.
Lying in bed, playing mario64 on the ceiling or browsing or reading a book is very easy with this tiny projector in size but huge in potential.

If you want to use the same settings then you need to use the same ISO as well as shutter and aperture, although there is only a small difference between ISO 80 and 100. I don't have that film and it has been many years since I saw it, is that scene supposed to be well lit or is it meant to be a dark scene? Have you tried connecting your PC to a TV over HDMI to check how the scene looks on a TV, I am wondering if it could be that something on the PC is not set up right.

EDIT: Just thought of something else, what pixel format do you have the projector set to on the PC?

Hey andy, right now I am using 1920x1080 as there is not much difference compared to native, and since this is a cloned display I would much rather look at 1080 on my computer monitor. I am certainly willing to reduce the pixels though if it could add a little brightness. The Dune scene is not meant to be a dark scene (at least not on my computer monitor.) I have a Panasonic plasma that I hooked up to the computer before this, and that might be the reason I am a little picky about the brightness, black levels, etc... to have that picture blown up to 100" is about 10 years off at this price point I am thinking.

I changed the settings in my graphics card to brightness +13, contrast +6, and gamma +.01, and the blacks are usually dark grey, all scenes with a lit window in the background are totally blown out, and text is a nightmare to read, but the image is much brighter for me and tolerable. I don't think I am going to get the quality that espeto is getting out of his, but this little device is certainly on par to some older 480p dlp's I have messed with, and hopefully I will get 8-10x the bulb life as those. Very slowly but surely it is growing on me.

Just read the following review, how come the LG PB60G only capable to push up to 277lm instead of the 500-600lm ?

I have extracted the table from the brighness test section.

Is anyone able to figure out what method they used to measure lux (distance from lens, screen size, etc.)?

Anyone here with this unit that has uneven focus issues? My PA70G has some uneven focus issues and I wan't to know if this might be a better alternative.

I have had lg pb60g and unfortunately the focus was messed up. I could only focus one side of the projected image. Returned the unit and now I am looking in the direction of nec led PJ , unfortunately i cant find any useful info about focus on that unit

ps it was made in Korea date November 2012.

I think I am going to keep my LG PA70G since my issue isn't actually that bad. It is slightly out of focus on the bottom right corner of the screen. Only noticeable on a Windows Desktop.

I have used and watched lot of games on acer k330 and compared to Lg it has much sharper focus , not perfect :-) the only problem you have to wait until the PJ heats up :-)

There is no perfect unit in this price range unfortunately it is only a question can you live with it.

As I have stated in previous posts , i have owned pb60g and frequently used acer k330. I have no experience with pa70g. All my observations are made in that context. I haven't done side by side comparison but I have used lg and acer in same conditions and same environment. On particular acer unit that i have used focus was much better than on LG pb60g , and acer k330 was brighter unit. In consideration of lumen testing on Chinese site it makes a lot of sense now.

pa70g is rated as 700 lumen PJ , but i wouldn't be surprised that the real number would be around 550 :-) Lg likes to boost numbers.

Ps.. there is one thing and observation that i forget to mention. In consideration of RBE effect , I have to say that I am sensitive to this phenomenon. On Lg pb60g i have noticed RBE much more than on the Acer k330 I am not sure what was the reason considering the same technology ,just my observation.

Someone mentioned in the PA70G thread, that this model (PB60G) has also a focus problem.

These measurements are bogus.
They could be taken from different places and different people taking the measured brightness on different screen sizes, different lighting conditions. Unless it was done by same person in same room in exactly same screen size, room lighting, it's bs. I mean think about it , if someone is projecting onto screen in bright daytime from 20 feet away, and another person is posting in batcave from 8 feet away a different pj on list, you can see the problems.
Only test I would trust is site or person who tested all these models under exact same conditions, Period.

I need your help guys....I've been using an Optoma PT100 16:9 native aspect ratio LED pj connected via DVI to VGA cable for 2 years now (50 lumen). I really want to bump up to a 720p LED since I'm only about 8' from the 65-70" screen and 800x600 isn't too lovely at that distance. The pj sits on top of a book case almost 10 feet from the screen and shoots onto a homemade 33" high by 58" wide screen. I don't need a light cannon, and the LG PB60G looks pretty good and cheap.

Anyway, the LG PB60G's native aspect ratio of 16:10 means that from the same distance, I would need a 48" high by 77" wide screen, way too large for my office setup (over my desk).

However, using ProjectorCentral's Calculator (and Draper's custom screen size calculator), if I select a 2:35 aspect ratio for the LG PB60G, the required screen size is only 33" x 77".

In other words, same screen height and 20" wider.

Now I can widen the screen the needed 20" to get the 33" x 77" 2:35 aspect ratio size with no problem.

SO, the big question for me is, could I make a 2:35 ratio screen, and then using VLC player, just choose the 2:35 aspect ratio option when playing all movies via my PC?

I can't ceiling mount due to a large 4' flourescent ceiling light fixture in the way so the 2:35 aspect ratio option would be my only way I could use the PB60G.

Jeremy you can set image format on the projector like
16:10,16:9,4:3, Scan, Original, Zoom, Cinema Zoom.
2.35:1 format is the format used by Cinemascope or Panavision systems.
It is a format of the movies.
You should see movies in that format to get the screen you want (with black bars up and down)
