Really enjoying this game. What I assume to be the skits (characters talking in that card format) are hilarious.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it.

After you beat this one, while you are waiting for Tales of Xillia 2 to come out, you can go get Tales of Graces F and check out that combat system. (it's awesome) and see how much content usually goes into a Tales of game. (xillia is content lite compared to other games in the series)

I haven't yet mastered the combat system, but I'm getting closer. I just need to take the time and memorize my linked artes with a steady partner. I haven't ever chained more than two artes....

Nearly at the end of Chapter 2 on my first playthrough with Jude. While this is by no means a visual/gameplay masterpiece, I'm really enjoying it. The skits are hilarious and the combat keeps me interested. That said, I'll be flying through the second playthrough- I can't imagine being too intrigued by the story a second time around.

After this I'm going to play GTA V. If there's time between that and the PS4 arriving on my doorstep, I'll definitely pick up Tales of Graces F.

Finished the story last night. For a JRPG, the story was pretty good, though the skits are what makes the game "fun." Finished at exactly 35 hours. That seems very short....

Finally mastering the combat system will likely make the grind more enjoyable. I finished with everyone at about level 68, so it's going to take a while.

I love this game. Almost done with my first playthrough cleanup that included quite a few things I could have saved for Milla's run. If only I could find 7 more skits, I wouldn't need to spend any grade to watch them all.

By the way, my wife has zero interest in anything video game related, but she absolutely loves the theme song for Xillia.

Several skits and side quests are exclusive to each character, you can't finish them all in one go.

Progress is my favorite theme song in the series, too bad the collector's edition sound track didn't include it, had to import it.

I've got 213 skits out of the 220 needed, surely I could find 7 more.

Is that for the trophy? The game has 241 skits, 10 exclusive to each character and several are missable. (Like not using gels for almost half the game)

Yes, it's for a trophy. I'll see if there's a list somewhere (probably on ps3trophies), but maybe I'll just use the grade to watch them all...AGAIN...and then reload my save. The only thing left to do on this playthrough is to loot 60 more times, which I'll finish tonight.

This game has made me want to pick up Tales of Graces f. I still have to play GTA V, but I may end up selling that back to Amazon to get Graces.

By the way, what the hell is a "Xillia?" Nowhere, that I've found, is it mentioned in the game.

Xillia is just a name, rarely does the title name make it into the story. (Vesperia was one of the few, it was the name of a star and Karol's guild)

What other Tales games, that will play on my PS3, are worth grabbing? I'll have the Xillia plat this week and then it's on to Graces f. I'm really enjoying this game, so I'd like to play the others if they're any good.

Aside from Symphonia, which hasn't aged all that well, and Xillia 2 there isn't any left on the PS3 that are in English. Vesperia is on the 360 in English, or you can import the Japanese PS3 version. Eternia is on the PSP in Europe (region free import) Abyss is on the PS2 or 3DS, Phantasia is on the GBA officially, but the fan translated PS1 version is the better choice to play.

It is only recently that the localization has actually been decent, we missed out on so many games over the years. Hearts, Innocence, Destiny, and a bunch of spinoffs.

The Trailer for Xillia 2 is up on RPGfan.com. I can't provide a link because my work computer wont let me go there (but I can come to this site!) but, yeah, it's worth checking out.

Really?

Boo! I have the soundtrack that came with the game, just haven't opened it up yet. The opening theme song for Xillia is great. It's a huge omission to leave it out of the soundtrack (unless there are some licensing issues with selling the song outside of the game within the U.S. or E.U.?)

Progress is by Ayumi Hamasaki, one of the more famous "JPop" stars, so it isn't much of a surprise. I tracked down the song back at the Japanese launch before it was hard to obtain.

Even harder to find is the full version of some of these. (Often they include the intro cut only, the full versions are harder to track down) I also have Starry Heaven from Symphonia's Japanese release and Karma from Abyss. (All full versions)

This Album should contain Progress based on the review, so if you really want it and want to get a full album, here it is.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005UYWYR8

Here is the full version if you want to sample it, I prefer it to the Xillia cut. (Video has lots of ending footage, MAJOR SPOILERS)
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

A new Chinese resturant opened and I finally got around to going. I was quite surprised when I heard the music they had playing. Ayumi Hamasaki, and it was Dearest (Inuyasha ending theme) It seems they had a full CD playing. No Progress sadly, but that might be a bit much for a resturant setting...
