Can anyone suggest a good media player?

I use my laptop right now with an attached hard drive but I'd rather have a stand alone device that can play ALL video files (at least common ones, like VLC player plays) off my hard drive and if possible over a network too to my other computer.

Dune HD is the way to go wink.gifLink
I got mysel a Dune HD Duo ( 2x 3.5' HDD) and a Dune HD Max 1 built-in Blu-ray player and 1x 3.5" HDD the perfect media player if you ask me with perfect PQ and plays almost everything.

Good luck m8

It depends what you want. If you want something economical the AIOS, NeoTV550 and WDTV2 would do. If you want something nicer with a nice jukebox, I would suggest Dune, PCH or Mede8er. Dune is nice, but more expensive. If you don't mind spending more money for old hardware that work then you won't be disappointed. However, I would suggest the PCH-A300 over the Dune just for price alone. I personally own a Dune D1 and a PCH-A210, and I like them both. The PCH-A210 I got on ebay for $120 eek.gif and it looks and performs like a brand new unit.

One of the Micca players. Dune and Popcorn hour are a rip off.

Care to elaborate rather than being obtuse?

Obtuse? You want some veracity then? Look at the prices - $120 for a Micca EP600 G2 that will easily do the job, not twice the price for popcorn or Dune which again, are overpriced.

It is true, Dune and PCH cost more. However, there are many other people who do not mind paying more for them. I do agree there are a lot of "inexpensive" media players out there that will play media files without issues. However, one of the many reasons why I choose and recommend Dune and PCH is due to their media and Jukebox support. My children and their friends like choosing movies by looking at the movie wall rather than reading the titles.

Ahh yes, SHINY SHINY, instead of reading. This isn't spending extra cash on in my opinion. Playback is key not pretty jukebox pictures.

I use the popcorn hour a300 and it has a really useful interface. Yes, I could have gone cheaper but I like shiny shiny pictures. Shame that so many threads become slinging matches. good luck with your purchase
