3D won't play, what's wrong?

I have an Oppo 93 connected through a Bose Lifestyle system to a Panasonic VT-30. Every time I put in a 3D Bluray disc it says one of my components is not compatible and won't play. I upgraded the firmware in the Oppo and I can see the 3D is working on the TV but the disc won't play. It just stops at the incompatibility warning and I can't override it. Anyone have a sense of what the problem might be or how to override the stop on the Oppo to get the disc to play? Thanks

Is the video feed going directly from the Oppo to the TV or thru the Bose system? If it is the latter, then the Bose device may be the culprit as devices that do not support high speed HDMI can lead to playback issues.

If you have not already done so, try running just the HDMI cable directly from the Oppo to the TV (completely bypass the Bose for now); if you get a 3D image and sound then you'll know the issue is with the Bose.

3D Blu-ray disks output 3D using a 1920x2025@24fps packed buffer format with the audio betweeen the two 1920x1080 frames. Only a AVR ratedf for HDMI 1.4 can extract the audio from this format. Many but not all HDMI 1.3 AVRs will pass this buffer through without a problem

+1. It probably is the Bose unit that is triggering the incompatibility message.

Thanks. Everything is running through the Bose Lifestyle system. I thought it might be the Bose unit but haven't shifted the wires yet as my Oppo B-93 is now unresponsive except for on off. I'll look into the Bose once I get the Oppo back to normal.

Sounds like your Oppo is just disgusted being hooked up to the Bose thing. smile.gif
