Can someone help me with this, I'm at a loss?
I agree, it's a little confusing, but once you understand the process it works really well. I will assume you are using the provided Pioneer remote. Let's assume you want to listen to Internet radio
; the other inputs are similar, with the caveat that you need to run (possibly separate) analog inputs from the playback device that will output audio to zone 2.
1. Press the RECEIVER button (upper left-hand side of the remote - the round power button;
2. Press the NET button (below the power buttons) and keep pressing it until you see Internet Radio in the display;
3. Tune to the channel / provider to which you wish to listen;
4. Press the ZONE 2 button (all the way on the bottom left-hand side of the remote);
5. Press the NET button, again (this selects the zone 2 'input')
That's it! You should see 'Multizone' lit up in the display and you should be hearing music from both the main and zone 2 outputs. Note that to change the volume, you need to either press the square RECEIVER button or the ZONE 2 button - then change the volume with the remote.
Also, note that if you are using the RCA line-level outs (as opposed to the zone 2 speaker connections), you need a separate amp or powered speakers and you change the volume from those - not the receiver, itself.
To shut everything off, you need to first press the ZONE 2 button and THEN press the RECEIVER power button. That is, you turn on and off the zone 2 power separately from the main zone.
There is a button on the top middle of the remote called ALL ZONE STBY that will toggle both off at the same time - read the manual to see how that functions.
One more thing: I picked this example, because there is a trick to using zone 2 and changing inputs. You cannot select a different NET function while zone 2 is operating (if I recall correctly); you need to power off zone 2, change the NET function to the desired input, and then power zone 2 back on. And, there are some oddities with how Airplay works when you first turn it on.
Post back and let us know how it goes... apologies in advance if I missed something or made a mistake - I use zone 2 every day, but mainly for Airplay and Internet radio w/ RCA line-level outs to powered speakers.
