Same issue here.

Pandora doesn't work since yesterday.

Another issue is

I cant even update firmware via USB.
Anyone have this problem?

Also server error with Sirius radio as well

I too have this HDMI issue. My latest workaround is to power units on in order. Directv Sat, then 1122, then TV. The HDMI signal turns on in the 1122 as a confidence builder. Sometimes it goes away as I power on the TV. Then I power off/on the Sat box and the signal passes through. It was not like this when
I first was using the receiver (have yet to understand how it started). I have also tried plugging and unplugging the HDMI cables at both receiver and units.
If anyone else in this community has another answer, it would be greatly appreciated. The HDMI issue also exists with my DVD and has been resolved with the same method.

I've had mine for about 6 months with no issues and just recently Pandora started doing the same thing "server error". what firmware version do you guys have?

If there is anyone out there that would like or prefers a paper manual I have one free of charge. I printed the manual out and had it bound at work. It is really nice for making notes, or being able to have in front of you while your working on the receiver. Just PM your adress if interested. I would hate to see it go to waste.

I too am have the same HDMI switching problem as a lot of people are. I use a Logitech remote so I will change the order in which my components are turned on. Hopefully this will help (not holding my breath). I've seen it happen from a cold start and from having the receiver on for a while. If I am watching DirecTV and want to switch to my BDP (which is off), I get "No Input Detacted". I wonder if I should turn off the receiver and turn it back on?

Did you do the update, that's part of the fix and the latest update, so it says.

1122K owners, I am hoping that someone here can help with my decision. I am looking at the 1122 vs the 1120K. What are the major differences? is the 1122K and upgrade from the 1120? Does the 1122 have multi room? Trying to decide between these two and I am completely new to AVR. Thanks for any help provided.

One thing is the 1120 does not use the 2012 control app. And be aware of you are an android user, it didn't work on my Evo or my Photon but it does work on my note 2. Hope this helps some.

Yes, the 1122 supports multi-zone (using fixed line-level RCA outs or variable speaker outs) - works great, but you need to run additional analog outs from your various players to support this, as you probably already are aware.

And, yes, you need the 1122 to use the new ControlAV2012 app - which is my favorite feature on this AVR and why I bought one a month ago (and am lovin' it!).

Hi everybody.
I just received my Pioneer Receiver and had a 3 hour battle
I tried connecting my receiver withOUT floor-standing speakers, so only connected it to TV, and setup process was painful.
I couldn't configure my LAN, picture on TV or PS3, until I downloaded iPhone app...
After that I had picture (my tv does not support arc so i know why i didn't have sound), but I could NOT use receivers remote. I could only change "ports" through iPhone??
And when I turn off the receiver - my iPhone app cannot turn receiver on, so I have to use remote, and then app recognize it...
REALLY WIERD!

What did I do wrong?
Could it be cauze there were no speakers connected?

Also, I'm trying to find where to input my Sony MDR-IF240RK Infrared Wireless Stereo Headphone System but I just cannot find it??

In order for your app to turn the redirect on and off you have to go into setup and tien on the standby option.

The quote means two things:

1. if you connect RCA cables to your second room, you need a separate amp/speakers and will have to adjust the volume at the second amp, not from the Pioneer AVR;

2. The only audio that will go to the second room is whatever is internal (e.g. Airplay, net radio, tuner, media server) or what is connected to the AVR with analog inputs - this AVR (and almost everything else in its class) will NOT convert a digital audio input signal to analog for the second room.

I don't have an 1120, so I can't comment on a preference of one over the other; that said, I think you will really like 1122 and the new app that goes with it.

To use the app for power on and off you have to go to settings/setup and turn on the standby mode option.

Guys, I'm really having a huge issue "installing the initial setup" (configurating my speakers).
I connected my speakers to the receiver CORRECT (checked like 5 times) and after the initial setup, I can only hear tweets. No bass! What I mean by correct - red wire to red, and black to black.
Cause my speakers are bi-amp ready, I tried to to bi-amp them and when running the setup I can hear a bass on my speakers when is time to hear my "surround speakers".
But, however I tried to connect them - I'm getting a message - reverse phase (for L/R speaker) and ERR for "surround speakers".
When I retry the setup, one of the speakers is OK and the other one is Reverse Phase.
What could I possibly do wrong?
If its not wrong input wire - what could be???

Ever get a resolution from Pioneer?

For all of you having the same/similar problem what I had...

The only way to made it work was to switch wires - negative to positive and vice versa (red to black and black to red) both on speakers and receiver..
So, I called Pioneer and their Rep. told me to switch them again, and place them in original position or the way as they should be (negative to negative and positive to positive), which I did.
After that, he "explained" how to restart the receiver - receiver is turned off, and hold the power button and enter button on receiver - find the option restart/enable/enter and that's it..
Everything seem good now...

The only thing what I lost was AirPlay, but I was explained that is something that "doesn't have anything to do w/ Pioneer, that is only Apple's"... That answer was something what I did not like, but was explained to restart my network settings (on my iPhone), delete iControl app, and retrieve network again and install iControll app. I did it, but still don't have AirPlay.

Any suggestions?

Update Error 6

Is anyone else having difficulties applying the Pandora update to their Pioneer AVR? I downloaded the files to a USB thumb drive and ran the update on the AVR and after a short time I see "Update Error 6". I can power off and back on and everything works, but no update and, hence, no Pandora.

Anyone else seeing this before I call Pioneer?

The Pioneer update utility will only read from a small USB drive - not sure what "small" means to Pioneer, but 8GB was too large and the smallest thumb drive I own.

So, I simply deleted all partitions on the drive and created a 512MB default FAT partition and put the files on that... all was well, after that.

F#$% -you Pioneer for making me do that - that was a huge waste of my time and a limitation like that should be in the release notes.

before anyone goes to these draconian steps, try formatting the flash drive first. others are getting it to work just fine, even with 16GB drives.

1. download the file from Pioneer, preferably not using wireless, just to be safe you had no glitches in data transfer
2. format a flash drive no bigger than 8 GB (16 GB tops) in FAT32/FAT16, preferably FAT32 (bigger drive capacity supported, at least that's what I remember from my DOS/Win 95 days even smaller drive if you have one.
3. un-zip the zip file on your hard drive, not the flash drive
4. copy the bin files NOT the extracted folder to the root directory of the USB drive
5. insert drive, and see if installation proceeds
6. if it gives the error message, then try a smaller drive

That's the first thing I did... format the drive, leaving the single original partition in place that spanned the whole drive. When that didn't work with a 16GB drive, I tried the smaller 8GB drive - formatting as FAT with one partition. These drives never had more than one partition on them to begin with.

Other postings on AVS have reported similar problems and someone reported his fourth try with an older drive finally worked. That was what made me think that Pioneer's flash reader was restricted to smaller drives. Since I don't own anything smaller than 8GB, I thought that creating a small, single partition would replicate having a smaller flash drive - which worked great.

Clearly, Pioneer has some limitations on what they can and cannot read from the drive; not outlining this in the release notes and then displaying "Error Code 6" on the screen as the only feedback is not acceptable; sorry if you think Pioneer has made a good effort on their part.

Took me 3 tries with 2 identical 4 gig drives. I didn't format but had to erase all files of the drive. Even the ones that Windows said the drive might not working any system if you delete them.

a clean drive is the way to go.

we can't expect the receiver to be smart enough to know which files to ignore. even files on the drive with another OS, like Linux, that Windows might not read are not good idea. when it comes to firmware or things like a motherboard BIOS, you cannot assume anything and there's a risk if the files are corrupt or other files are present that can interfere with the process.

worst case, it can brick the device you're trying to update. best case, it just doesn't install.

I don't know all the issues at work here. All I know is when several people started posting about problems, I downloaded the file to try it myself, used a PNY 8 GB drive, deleted files from it, formatted it, and successfully installed 2 different updates, the first HTC update and the Pandora-HTC update, in order. No problems. Another poster followed my advice with a 16GB and it worked for him 1st try. Hard to understand why the drive mfg would make a difference, maybe it does. but clearly the size is not the sole factor involved. it may be a combination of drive size, formatting as FAT 32 for a larger drive vs FAT16 for a smaller one - maybe a little luck, too

reply to myself ... weeks ago, a second reset get the receiver reinit the usb function. I now see a long 'Please Wait' message when activate the usb select but it play after so it is back to normal.

Now all I remembered the cause was I turned down the receiver while it is playing internet vtuner. It was not the physical power button but the software power from iControlAV 2012 iPad. So any Pioneer firmware developer reading this, please take note ... the app power down might forgot to close a network connection / usb port making the receiver believe it has a busy usb on the next power on.

Other than that freaky annoyance, I really like this unit which seems to miles away from the onkyo tx-nr807 which failed me after 3 years (hdmi board).

Not sure this is relevant to last post,but I have version 1-157-025-014-094 on my VSX-1122-k and when I set up first time and checked software update the system said up to date. All was well,but when I didn't use the receiver with icontrolav2012 for several days, when I went to turn back on there was no connection. Repeatedly tried to update, but kept getting AVR Error B 27102. (I also bought one for my sister and same issue) After many attempts - unplugging wireless adapter,turning off receiver,deleting app and reinstalling, etc. - the only way to get the connection back was to unplug receiver from the power source and then the app and receiver connected ! Sent Pioneer an e-mail and await a response. Anybody having same issue ?? Haven't tried Pandora update yet so can't replay to same as many posts have. Hopefully Pioneer will do a fix via Internet ! ?

As an FYI, the latest firmware update is NOT available via direct download to the AVR via the Internet - you need to download it from the Pioneer VSX-1122-K product page, place it on a USB stick and update from the USB port on the front of the AVR. Read this thread on that topic before doing so and good luck!
