Bought the Polk Audio DSWPRO 550wi 10" Wireless Ready Subwoofer for $299 each

Any thoughts?

My friend has the 'DSW PRO 500' and I like how they sound. Wondering if these were a good buy at $299. Each sub comes with a free pair of 'Polk Audio UltraFit 3000 In-Ear Canal Sports Headphones with iPod/iPhone Control and Mic (Black/Red)' These retail for $60 on most sites online.

I've been trying to research the Polk Audio DSWPRO 550wi 10" Wireless Ready Subwoofer online but there isn't much info on them. From what i see on polks website, it seems like they're the successors to the DSW PRO 500. I don't care for the wireless setup either. I'm going to wire these.

Thanks!

PS see attached files for possible sub-placement.

I have the 550 pro not really impressed with it at all. Just pulled the trigger on dual empires last week to replace it. They are due to arrive on tuesday.

Damn. Anything specific about them that you didn't like? I saw the dual empire Epik's those are out of my price range. I would like to have a dual set up but am limited to within a $600-$700 budget....

I guess it is not all that bad, just not for my size of room 20 x 35 with 10 ceiling.

i have come to the expensive conclusion that 10" subs are useless in larger rooms... They just cannot move enough air and their sub-bass response is dismal... Usually dropping about 30-35Hz...

In general I agree with your observations, however, if one can use Nearfield Placement, the limitations of smaller subwoofers can be minimized.

To the OP if you can catch a good sale, ($300 delivered), on the Klipsch RW-12D a pair of them might get the job done. If you can't wait for a sale on the Klipsch RW-12D's you should consider something larger like the HSU VTF-3MK4. That might entail different placement from what you prefer, but trying to fill your large space with 10 inchers isn't likely to succeed.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Awww man, the Klipsch are $660 delivered for TWO at newegg.com ($330 each)

So you're saying I should go for those over the Polks?

I'm not sure if i can return these without taking a hit on the restocking fee. And return shipping. I wish I asked sooner, but this sale was only gonna last 24 hours.....

let me know if Klipsch are the way to go. I won't mind spending $660 shipped (as long as I can return these without taking a hit).

Decided to get 2 Klipsch Reference RW-12D instead smile.gif

$660 for two works out fine smile.gif

The 12" Klipsch pair are a lot better choice than those 10" polks for the same'ish money.

I think you made a very wise move on the Klipsch duals.

I think your friend with the DSW PRO 500 will be jealous when he hears your dual RW-12ds smile.gif
