Ceiling mount for JVC DLA-HD250.

What brands & models of mounts are people using for their JVC PJs? I've been looking at some universal mounts for ~$100 and many of them have arms that are too short to handle the HD250's ~15" diagonal span.

I've come across two so far that look like they might do the trick:
1. OmniMount 3N1-PJT
2. Perfectmounts "Everest"

Any thoughts on either of these (or on any others)? Do most mounts come with the M5-thread screws (> 13mm, but < 21mm) required for the HD250? (I've e-mailed OmniMount twice about this, but haven't heard back yet. I plan to contact Performancemounts today.)

Thanks for the reply. The RPM-U looks like a pretty solid piece. Unfortunately, it's priced closer to $200, and it looks as though I'd need some sort of adapter plate for my PJ. Oh, well...

OK, I guess I must be missing something. I can't find the RPM-U mount on the Chief website, but when I do a Google search for it, the pics all come up looking like this, which is too small to fit the HD250.

The Chief mounts look solid, but they seem to run ~$200 up here in Canada, so I'm not that intent on them. That being said, I'll check out the link for the RPAU. Thanks for that.

The Peerless, on the other hand, looks good and it's available for ~$140 up here (at Amazon.ca). I'll give that one a closer look.

The Peerless mount is looking very interesting to me - it looks solid, it's well-reviewed and the price is closer to what I'd like to spend. I've sent an e-mail to the company to confirm that it comes with everything I need and, once I get that confirmation, I'll likely snag one off Amazon.ca. Thanks for the tip!

I just had a "live chat" with a Peerless rep. I asked about the length of the screws. He provided me with an installation manual. The manual indicates that the M5 screws are 10mm long. Subtract some length due to the requirement to slot through the "spider legs" and the screw is far too short to meet JVC's requirement of a 13mm minimum length. Bummer.

OK, just got a reply from the e-mail I sent to Peerless earlier today. The rep says they can supply the longer screws if I need them. This is starting to come together...

Order placed for a Peerless PRG. And the helpful CSR at Peerless has confirmed that they will ship me four 16mm screws at no charge.

Got the four 16mm screws from Peerless today. While I absolutely appreciate that they shipped me the four screws for free, my first reaction to the double-box packaging was "Holy freakin' overkill!"

My new ceiling mount arrived last night...and in a box considerably smaller than the one used to deliver four 16mm screws, I might add! The mount looks like really solid piece, and I'm looking forward to setting it all up this weekend and finally getting my projector squared away on the ceiling.

One thing I found a bit odd was the fact that there are only two large wood screws included in the package. My previous, smaller (and lower weight capacity) mount included four large wood screws to secure the base into the ceiling. (Above/behind the drywall, I have a section of 1/2" plywood screwed into the floor joists above it).

Are two wood screws really enough to secure this mount and the 25lb. projector that's going to hang from it? I wouldn't expect Peerless to include only two screws unless they were certain that that was sufficient to handle up to the max. rated load, but I can't help thinking that I should pick up a couple more from the local hardware store, just to be sure.

Have you guys - with similar mount + PJ combos - used just the two screws, or have you used four?

Any thoughts/comments are appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, Mr. G. If two screws will hold up your 19lb. PJ, I guess there's no reason two would also hold up mine.

I guess I'm looking at this from the point of view that the old mount had four screws, so maybe two just isn't enough; but perhaps I should be looking at it the other way: Two is actually enough, and four was overkill.

Anyway, I'll start with the two that are there and, if I feel uneasy about it, I'll add a couple more. Thanks for humouring me and my "thinking out loud" questions.

@dolphinc: I like the HD250 - it's a solid upgrade from my older InFocus SP7210 720p DLP projector - but from what I've read it's not the PJ to get if you need fast refresh for gaming or sports, as it lacks "creative frame interpolation" (CFI). I'd stick with the W7000.
