The PC side seemed to be OK, but the PC failed to establish the initial handshake communication with the PJ: Always in hour-glass waiting mode until the connection timed out after exceeded the maximum # of retires. I tried just about everything I could think of and nothings go:
> Custom made the 9-pin cable & verified all pin connections end-to-end.
(1-1, 2x3 cross, 5-5, 4x6 cross, 7x8 cross, 9-9.)
> Also tried the other cross cables configuration as documented, but still no go.
> Tired 3 PC's: 2 XP-laptops, 1 Win98 desktop with verified good COM ports.
> Tried all 3 different baud rates (properly set on both PJ & PC).
> Tried both PJ's Device Index 00 & 01.
> Tried both PJ's Standby & Power-on modes.
> Tried both PJ's RS232C & 422A 9-pin inputs, just in case.
> Reset the PJ to Factory default (Service, Factory & Initial data).
Did anyone found anything else that I haven't tried?
The last resort would be to buy a Dallas chip with the software already upgrade in it and hope that it would work, but I will loose the serial # and hours used of the lens (not a big deal, really).
Thanks much.
