I'm thinking on RS45, but found an used RS60 for almost the same price.

So, which one should I choose? smile.gif

I would choose the RS60. It should give you a better picture.

How big is your screen, the RS-60 has some brightness issues, but it should do darker blacks than the RS-45.
I would not choose the RS-60 for very large screens.

My two cents, but I'm not sure if any firmware updates exist to help some of the other issues with it (calibration tables and what not).

How many calibrated lumens are you expecting? The RS45 is going to be noticeably brighter @ D65 than the RS60. Thankfully JVC fixed this for the RS55/65, but the RS50/RS60 were some of their dimmest projectors since the RS2.

Thanks for replies.

Screen size should be 120".

RS60 has no calibration issues? I read the newer (RS45/55/65) needs to get constantly calibrated due the lamp issue (changes calibration like every 100h). Is this confirmed?

I might also wait until september when the newer HW30 (probably HW40) comes out too.

On the RS-45 there may be some sample variance to the lamps, but I wouldn't say it has to be completely re-calibrated every 100 hours, maybe slight adjustments. The first 300 hours will be the main thing, you can just wait until 300-400 then calibrate it. It depends how picky you are, there is no full CMS on the RS-45, so you can only go so far with it anyhow.

I would not do the RS-60 on a 120" unfortunately, go with the RS-45 or something else, plus used is a bit risky.

I agree. Would be short lamp life on the RS60 with that size screen, unless you have a screen with a lot of gain. A High Power would work.

Thanks for the tips, much appreciate.

I'll wait for the upcoming HW40 & next-95 to decide.

Update: IF there will be an upcoming 95, otherwise I would go for HW40 (if better than HW30).

I'm thinking a picking up an RS-60 for the sitting room in my bedroom. It's only a 11" throw on to a 92". The RS2 is still holding its on here and only has 275hrs on the lamp with 2 spare lamps that I bought when JVC had the discounted prices on them. With 2 spare lamps I could possibly hold out until a nice, reliable, and "affordable" LED comes out.
