Some really interesting new developments, number 1 in my list is inbuilt bluray support.

However:
BD-J is not supported.. yet
You'll still need an on-the-fly decrypter (AnyDVD) to view commercial discs.
I also assume that refresh rate changing is not supported (yet to get home to test).

But, it is a start and an important one in terms of a media frontend supporting bluray playback including BD-J menus.

Refresh Rate Changer works under 1.2.3 for what I watch, or is there some issue you're referring to w/BR discs (that I do not have)?

Actually I should have read more. The smooth video playback looks very exciting in terms of matching refresh rates, however it has the downside that it looks like may disable HD bitstreaming. This might not be the case, as its not specifically mentioned (Dolby Digital bitstream is mentioned).

I have yet to try this but will give it a go next week to see if this automatic matching works well.

Bitstreaming (HD or otherwise) is not supported when using the smooth video playback features, similar to ReClock which can also only work on decoded audio.

I have MP 1.2.3 (plus Streamed MP) on my main HTPC, and have installed MP 1.3 Alpha (plus Streamed MP which isn't officially supporting 1.3 Alpha yet but there is an unofficial patch available) on my secondary HTPC.

Both HTPCs are configured the same wherever possible, and other than Online Videos and SubCentral plugins not supporting 1.3 Alpha yet everything seems to be working fine overall. Note: I use TMT MCE for playing blu-rays as I like my menu's & special features.

Once there is official support for Streamed MP, Online Videos and SubCentral I will likely switch my main HTPC over to 1.3 Alpha as well since I have experienced no major issues with it for my setup/use.

It's worth trying!
