Sweet - it's a long weekend here in Canada so 3 days of hopefully fun beta action....or 10 minutes if it sucks ha ha.
Downloading the beta now. Might try it out shortly, not sure how playing on fireteam with a random will go..

Anxiously waiting for 5......come on....Ill join you if I see your on pending it doesn't just random everyone together.
You can join someone's game from the menu, but not the fireteam, at least in the beta. Game isn't too bad. Fast paced, but more room to move then say the CQ maps. The game mode is similar to HQ from COD. Its decent.
Game has been enjoyable but I don't care for the halo color around enemy and friendly players. Menus are small and not fluid.
I spend the whole game trying to spot!

Cliff notes after an hour or so.

Game mode is like HQ. 5 rotating locations where one team must plant the bomb, the other must defend. Defending team gets a head start, as they know which of the 5 is the objective for about 30 seconds before the attackers. The attackers see the 5 sites rotating on the screen.

Each plant/defend is a "round", best of 5 rounds wins. Each round is a max of 4 minutes. When you plant, you have to hold off the defenders for 30-45 seconds.

It appears enemies get a red dot over their head once someone sees them, almost like auto spot, but it doesn't last long. You see the red halo of the enemy that killed your Fire Team Buddy (guy in green). The rest of the enemies don't get halos (I don't think).

After you pick your initial dude, the rest of the guys become unlocks. After an hour, I had 5 guys unlocked. Each class has different abilites, speed, strengths, etc. You can read about them on the main class screen. Weapons and attachments seem to be unlocks as well.

The map isn't bad, not too big but not too small either. Seems pretty well laid out so far.

So does it basically just feel like battlefield without vehicles? I thought I'd get a chance to play it earlier but the DL was just crawling.

My one match impression is mixed. I know the BF engine is under the hood but it feels really different. Not bad just different. I think I need to forget its BF ties and go into as a new game mindset.

I see the COD resemblence but it really feels like MOH 2010 evolved. Still not sure how I feel yet. The graphics seem rougher than BF. It is a beta though. Controls sucked until I set them to BF. Spawn raping is a fact for both sides but that could just be the mode. I'm still not sure of the map though and the moving objectives dont help.

Its not a clear gotta have it its the best thing ever but I hated the BF3 beta too so that's not a clear indication. I've preordered it and that will stand but its just such a...dont want to say mediocre but I just dont feel a wow factor yet. Gonna table it for the night and come back later may need to sink into it. Again its a beta and BF had me once I got the final product.

I'm D/Ling now, and I'm anxious to try it out. The last edition's multi was decent, but the simple fact is this: the top three players(on both teams) were snipers 95% of the time. It was weighted WAY TOO heavy towards them. You'd be getting a hit marker on them, and it wouldn't even affect their aim-bang, you're still dead and they're not...

Long sight lines from spawn didn't help either.
It didnt really make a great first impression. It just seems so....bland. The graphics are meh, no real style, nor are they really impressive on level of detail like BF. It could benefit from 60fps...but either way, I dunno, it just seemed kind of boring and budget, like an eastern european developed COD. The level of customization seems really deep if a little baffling, but the gameplay needs to back it up. If it was free I'd probably play it just to fill time until blops 2 comes out, but I cant see myself really getting sucked into it....I mean, they're basically only halfway done with BF3 content, did EA really need another shooter?

Starting to get into this now. Took a Borderlands break and when I came back it felt a lot better. Opening up the demo operator helped too. C4, grenade launcher and SAME ftw! Got a feel for the map now too. Battlelog is up as well, check your stats.
Well Harp and I figured out how to team up. On the screen to join game, hit select to go to the battlelog portion. From there, you can create a team of up to 10 and move guys around to fireteams etc. The party leader can join the game and everyone goes in together. It worked a couple of times with Harp, Trail and I. Although after each game someone would get booted and we had to redo it. Not sure if that is just part of the beta matchmaking or what.

So far I have no major issues. Its hectic, but not over the top (Like CQ BF is). No major spawn issues so far. Moving objectives and spawn options help that. Overall, the game is pretty fun, which is the important part.

Saw you guys on and would have joined but was at the end of Borderlands 2 so I had to finish. Am definitely going to spend some quality time with this later today or tomorrow. Was reading it's going to be like BF3 with 2 discs for the HD textures. So I'm guessing the beta may not be as HD as the final game.

Found this on battlelog. If you select lock slot on the party screen, we won't get separated during rebalancing

Class Operation and Settings:

Q. I dont understand the differences between the different Classes. Can you explain them to me?
A. Sure can! Below I will short list all of the Classes as well as their special abilities:

-Spec Ops: The Spec-Ops class is the eyes and ears of the battlefield. His silent footsteps and faster run speeds allows him to get the drop on the enemy quickly and effectively. His special ability Signal Scan allows him to briefly see enemy targets across the entire battlefield to coordinate an attack.

-Pointman: The Pointman class is the first man through the door. Armed with an assault rifle and a secondary shotgun he is prefect for breach and clear in many situations. His special ability is a clip of Heavy Hitter ammo which deals extra damage at the cost of additional recoil. Remember to fire in controlled bursts, Soldier!

-Demoltions (EOD): The Demolitions class is in charge of arming and disarming objectives. He can do this faster than any other class on the battlefield. His ability, Tank Stance, lets him absorb an extra amount of damage at the cost of run speed. Be careful and watch your back!

-Heavy Gunner: The Heavy Gunner class is in charge of laying down suppressive fire with his heavy machine gun. Using his bipod or Support Stance while prone he fire with increased accuracy at the cost of maneuverability and field of view.

-Sniper: The Sniper class is the intelligence Operator on the battlefield. Equipped with a variety of long range sniper rifles and a G18 for CQC he can take down targets at both extreme distances as well as short range. Using his bipod while prone he can spot enemies for his team at the cost of maneuverability and field of view.

-Assaulter: The Assaulter class is the meat of the operation. They are the core soldier in any Tier 1 unit. Equipped with an assault rifle they can take down enemies and clear buildings quickly and effectively. Armed with a 40MM grenade launcher as his class ability, he can bring the hurt on enemy emplacements.

Q. This guy, Just. Wont. Die!
A. Are you sure he isnt the Demolitions (EOD) class? Demolitions (EOD) can use his Tank Stance ability to absorb extra damage. Try switching to Pointman and using his Heavy Hitters class ability to counter it!

The warfighter tokens had a bit more detail in another FAQ. Evidently every 10 you spend on a country nets you 500 XP. Not sure how that plays out other than bragging rights. Maybe they will have events around it?

I'm a bit surprised how much I am actually enjoying this game. I'll be honest, I wasn't really expecting much since I don't know much about Danger Close, but they have done a great job from what I can tell. All the previews I had seen seemed to indicate these things, but you never know until you play it. Nexus and I were talking last night and we were surprised more AVSr's haven't tried it out.

Granted it is only 1 map and mode, from what I can see the new ideas they have come up with work really well. The Fire team buddy plays surprisingly well, where you can heal and give ammo. You can also give ammo to other team members, but only heal your FTB. The 6 different classes really feel different in the way they play. Things like speed, types of grenades, and score streaks are all different. The guns also feel really different. I

I really like the size of the map. Its not so small to where its twitchy, but not so large that you feel like you are running forever. It feels like Seine in the fact that you can get everywhere fairly quick, but not expect to see a dude every second.

My only gripes so far are that it seems the time-to-kill is a bit more than I am used to. It seems to take 4-5-6 bullets sometimes. Range, however seems to play a BIG factor in TTK, as well as headshots. Not sure about any other body parts...

Also, there is some lag issues where its seems you get shot only once or twice and are dead, but in reality you probably were hit several times.

And then disconnects after games, but I can attribute that to the beat and let it slide for now. Everytime we'd get disconnected, you have undue your MOH party and redo it or it would split you up.

All in all, after 6 hours or so playing, I am pretty excited about the game. The other mode's I've read about seem interesting, and they game is just plain fun, especially with a buddy (or more) playing together.

It takes a few games to get used to the map/mode/menus etc. as an FYI.

I tried, twice, over the weekend to play this game. Unfortunately, I hate it. Couldn't get the hang of it, couldn't get a kill. Spent my money on BF3 Premium and enjoyed the rest of the weekend...

This game won't be for everyone that's for sure. Supposed to be more realistic with firing mechanics and even loading. That last article I linked talked about using motion capture for the various factions and how they all loaded differently. So its not a CODtastic experience and more of a hardcore shooter. Some guys have armor and you have to use more rounds or higher damage bullets. Distance takes in recoil plus bullet drop. All in all its an experience I'm thoroughly enjoying. I have my usual level of swearing. Nothing elevated enough to make me stop playing and hate it.

Yeah, my guess is that vehicle-centric BF players won't particularly care for it. I like vehicle play, but I also enjoy just infantry play like Seine, etc. I also like objective matches, not a huge fan of reg TDM.

Like you said, it won't be for everyone, but it is light years better than 2010 MOH, IMO.

It's hard to put my finger on it, just didn't like the gameplay. It wasn't so much the lack of vehicles, or the realism (I normally like more realistic shooters). Basically it was the classic 'I can't kill anyone and everyone keeps killing me instantly'. Maybe I just needed more time with it, but I didn't like the feel of it. It felt real run-and-gunny. I tried to do controlled bursts to pick people off, nuthin', tried some spray and pray and that was worse. I didn't mind the halo system to highlight people but yeah, it just boiled down to I couldn't kill anyone so I just found it really frustrating instead of fun.

Your choice in kit may help. The demo soldier I do best with followed by assault. Heavy gunners I usually excel with but not so much here. The other kits are worse for me and I totally suck at sniping on most games anyway. Whenever I try any new kit I'm 1 for 20. Point is that you may need to try different kits until one clicks and maybe stick with it for a bit.

There is also a learning curve not sure how big yet. As Hoosier and I have ran into and talked about at length there are odd nuances to everything. The menus are strange, the guns feel weird, damage seems off, each kit is completely different and apparently all the countries animations are different too so you really have to take a lot in at once. Plus account for bullet drop and all the rat holes people pop out of.

Yeah, Time to Kill at range is longer than I am used to with BF. It took maybe an hour or so to feel comfortable with everything, and the map, and the 5 different locations of the potential objectives, but like everything there is a learning curve. Its definitely better with a squad mate vs. a random. Hey its free trial right...at least if you don't like it, it didn't cost anything.

What a shock, I would have never guessed lol. I downloaded this, but then I saw some videos on YouTube and I didn't like what I saw. I really should give it a try though and form an opinion after I play it myself. I was looking forward to it, but between still playing BF3, Madden 13, and NBA 2k13 along with waiting for WWE13 and Halo 4, I really don't see any time to play them all.

Its sort of funny that you downloaded the free beta, but then formed an opinion based on some youtube videos:)

Definitely, especially since I downloaded the beta before I ever watched the videos. I'll get around to it hopefully sometime this week.
