Help me pick a powered sub

budget?

Not sure cause im still a novice but , from what u said , i think the cylinder from SVS would suit u the best ... i heard they have accurate bass and the cylinder down firing...also take less place than other down firing sub i saw before ...

but i have to admit i was thinking buying this sub for myself also , but im kind of scary , it makes me think about a sub i had in my car when i was younger ( bazooka sub ) and it was pure CRAP

The SVS PC-12NSD comes highly recommended though the PC-12 Plus will have higher performance in a space that is ~5,000 cubic feet.

You might also want to consider the Outlaw LFM-1 EX and the LFM-1 Plus: both of them are down firing.

I would also suggest the Hsu VTF2 which is on sale at the moment. I think this or the Outlaw subs would be safer than the cylinder subs as the cone is much less exposed.

The SVS PB12-NSD might work well for you since the front grill that protects the driver and port is made out of metal. The Outlaw EX seems the best bet mentioned so far for maximum performance in your budget and kid friendly (downfiring).

If you want even more output in a sealed sub, I just got two of the CHT SS 18.1s. Very tight bass sound; 18" driver. With amp, one runs right at $1000. The new models are not downfiring, so you'd have to call them and if they have any of the downfiring versions left. But you would want to have Audyssey MultiEQ (or better) on your receiver because the sub will need some EQ.

You might also check out the new Power Sound Audio subs, they are down-firing, in your budget, and promise to have some serious output. Check out the XV15.

Nice sub, for sure, but probably not suitable for a 6000 cubic foot room. Unless you're thinking about picking up two of them. If not, I suspect you'd find a single unit would have some difficulty filling that much space.

I just ordered a pair yesterday! 10% off on a pair. Worked out to $1350 for the pair. Now I am waiting like a kid for Santa.
