I wonder what the sales figures will be like if they ever do a general release. Isn't it a bit late to take advantage of interest in this movie?

A lot of people on AVS who own players that play 3D BD ISO's [Micca, Oppo, etc] have already sourced it from alternative locations and that will be a little bit of a hit on the sales when it comes out but for the most part, I believe the general public will line up to get it.
The one way JC can definitely increase sales when it IS released is to release the extended cut in 3D instead of the one Panasonic ships with its TV's.post #4 of 107/13/12 at 8:38am- jbug

Had two copies that came with a couple of BD players and sold'em both anticipating a Feb '12 release of a full-featured release. Last month I picked up a boot to tide me over 'til the real thing comes out. By the time it does, my ardor may have cooled enough that I won't pick it up. Waiting this long has been a big mistake IMHO.post #7 of 107/14/12 at 1:34pm- steam engine

The number of people who actually have the 3D disc is really small and while the technically saavy types that typically frequent forums like this may have moved on to other stuff the general public will probably still be interested. I'm sure it will sell well and even move some TVs once its finally released, especially as 3D TVs are much cheaper these days.post #9 of 107/15/12 at 9:24am- THe_Flash

Note: Those 3D BD ISOs burn to BD-R 50s quite well too.post #10 of 107/16/12 at 10:10am- Lee Stewart

AVATAR finally heading for Blu-ray 3DQuote:Amazon.de (Germany) now has a 3D version of "Avatar" on pre-order.
This is good news for 3D fans around the world. Currently "Avatar" have only been available on Blu-ray 3D when bought with a Panasonic 3D TV.
The date is set for December 31, 2012 and we believe that this indicates that a US version will released this fall as well.
