The Revenant (2009) blu-ray

It doesn't seem like too many people know about this weird little flick. Here's a blu-ray.com link: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Revenant-Blu-ray/30169/
Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Revenant-Blu-ray/dp/B005NVMK7W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1342242520&sr=8-2

A few horror sites were heaping praise on it, so I thought I'd give it a go. Overall, I'd call it pretty good. A pleasant surprise, though it's so grimy and nasty you might feel like you need a shower afterwards. The best thing about it is that it really does take the undead genre in a different direction. What we have here, is an L.A. zombie bromance vigilante flick, with some really good gore effects. It takes a while to ramp up, and some of the acting in the opening scenes flirts with the SyFy level, but hang in there. When it gets going, you'll be glad you stuck around. The director is a makeup effects artist, and the gore is high quality and realistic. Some have compared it to Near Dark, but I think it has more of a sense of humor than that. The ending in particular seems to divide people. I loved it. It depends on your level of cynicism about the government. My reaction was "Yes, that's probably exactly what would happen." I got the UK disc delivered for under 20 bucks, so I can't complain.

Just avoid the Cinemax version which has been cropped.
