That sounds like a disc-compatibility problem.
The disc you burned is readable but sometimes only marginally; the long load time on your PC is probably because your O/S is receiving errors from its BR drive and is retrying the failing operation. Eventually, it succeeds. If the disc plays without error afterward, the "marginal" part of the disc is (probably) near or in the "root directory" (or whatever it's called in a DVD image.) Your BR player, using a different optics and different software, fails to read the disc at all.
I'd recommend, if you're interested,
- burn another disc;
- switch disc brands;
- try burning on a different PC; and/or
- trying playing your burns on a different BR player.
