TV for gaming

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a 45"-50" TV, preferable LCD as it's a well lit room, mainly for gaming on a PS3 so input latency is a concern for me. I currently have a Sony Google TV and the input latency is horrid, completely unplayable. I saw a thread on this forum about input latency for certain TV's, but it's pretty old. Can anyone make a good recommendation or at least point me to a good resource? Thanks.

For TV sets in the 45"-50" range, there will always be a bit of input lag, but the Panasonic VIERA TC-P42ST30 and the
Samsung PN51D550 both have a reasonable 16ms lag. Meanwhile, the Samsung UN46ES8000 has great dimming technology and a 240Hz refresh rate, making arguably better than the other two. Look into LG and Sharp also; they tend to be viable gaming TV's.

Like the above poster, I recommend an LG or Sharp.

I have a 2011 LG 42" LK450 60Hz CCFL-LCD, which has minimal input lag. Since it's got a S-IPS panel, dark portions of the image don't smear with fast motion like on *VA panel technology. For gaming, 60Hz sets tend to have the least input lag and IPS panels seem to work great with gaming as well (since motion blur tends to be more uniform and less distracting than on the average *VA panel). I would avoid brands like Samsung if you are very picky about input lag, since they tend to have the most input lag even when in game mode.

Also, you can certainly watch some modern plasmas in a well-lit room, but a matte screen LED/LCD would be ideal (as it should minimize reflections and glare while remaining very dark when light hits the screen directly).
