Wow the list has grown. Well, I'm finally moved in. Just a little things here and there that needs to be done but nothing major at the moment. I still want to attend the event though. I haven't set up all my gear yet. The Cap sounds ok behind listing position but I know it can get it better. There is absolutely no room in the front of the room so I have to make it work where it is now. . The space bigger than my other place. Behind the middle seat it opens into the dinning room. There is more space to fill now. At -20db's was loud at the old place and now with the same settings, it's hardly loud at all. I also think thoses bookshelf speakers are not enough anymore. My avatar has the old set up.

I haven't received many audio clips..... our demo cd is going to be quite short....

I did like a lot of clips from the KC demo playlist I heard, would it be possible to get that in a higher quality?
i can just start sending you more clips that I want to hear :P

also some people mentioned Dream Theater, Eagles, Dire Straights and a few others. I'm happy to cut stuff up for people i just need Song titles and time frames.

Sibuna - that would probably be fine, less hassle for you and Epik will still be represented. We will have plenty to listen to. smile.gif

Congrats on getting the move done and out of the way. One option for you is to relocate your equipment that is currently below the TV, and then put the Cap there. You could even put the center on top of it if you lay the sub on it's side. Welcome to the world of bigger rooms. biggrin.gif

Before you go to the trouble of moving everything, move the sub over there first to test it out. However, if you're looking for the most output, the corners would probably be the best bet due to room gain. Experiment, experiment, experiment!

What do you have so far?
I only have the clips from Sibuna, there have been mentions of a bunch of songs.... but not time frames, or specific songs/albums to get the music from.

If I have to go out and buy 5-6 cd's or movies I am fine with that, as I can add them to my collection.... but I need specifics of what you all want to hear. I could easily pick my top 10 song clips and just listen to rush2049's demo mix, but I was offering my services to make it personal for everyone attending.

I do need some lead time to make the material. Both so I can make it ahead of time, and so everyone attending can listen on their own systems at home to get a baseline for the material and be familiar with it. For movie clips I won't be distributing the material as the files will be much too large.

Yea, that's what Im going to do and see how it sounds. My speakers are not even leveled matched yet. That's how much time I had to play with it. It's missing that "punch" the cap is known for that I had that in the old place.

Use winamp or similar program. Rip the tracks you want to FLAC (lossless) and send them to me. Probably post them online somewhere and send me the links.

Just toying around - moved the Caps in the basement. 2 JTR Capitvators / Crown XLS5000, Audyssey XT32, no external EQ yet, 20hz tune. Got the Crown in a storage closet area and triggered by a 20A remote relay. smile.gif

this may be more then you want to undertake but this is how i do it - all of this is freeware

I rip CDs with a program called Exact Audio Copy (EAC) http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/
i convert to FLAC - see EAC setup Guide http://blowfish.be/eac/Setup/setup1.html
You could just Rip to WAV in EAC but if you want to convert to FLAC at any point you would need to set it up
I use Audacity to cut up songs - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
and then recompress to FLAC using EAC

if you already have FLAC files i use the FLAC frontend to decode them into WAVs - http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

OK - I think it's about time to start firming the list. Please if you are on the list and cannot make it, let me know so that others can attend. I have a good amount of space but only have so much room. smile.gif feel free to post here, email, or PM me.

Thanks,
Andrew

Have you seen this thread by chance? Some of those WAV files are an absolutely brutal workout for a subwoofer.

Excellent, PM returned. Just so you know I'm volunteering you for some help with setup on Friday, heh. biggrin.gif

All-

I think it's about time we firm the list now since we have a rather large group. If you are on the list and cannot attend please let me know some can open a spot for others

Gorilla,
I sounded not so confident before... but I'm coming. Super excited to hear all the gear, learn from, and enjoy the group. Bringing a bunch of pulled pork, low and slow smoked right over apple and pecan wood on my big green egg. I can bring my Rythmik FV15HP if desired, but there's another Rythmik in the line up so it doesn't sound like it's needed. Let me know

Any hotels around you recommend, prolly just need cheep as I won't be there much. Anything close to restaurants / bars?

Thanks for your hospitality

10hz to 20hz tone and 100hz to 20hz tone 369k .zip file

Here are a couple tracks I like for sine sweep purposes to hear how the subs do at different frequencies.

The 128kb/sec bit rate on these sine sweeps is perfectly adequate. I don't have a higher bit rate copy and any further conversion of these files will likely make them worse -- not better. Simle bass tones do no need high bit rates to serve their purpose.

Got it, I will remove the ? From your name. Definitely bring the fv15, I've been dying to hear one and I know others have been as well. That pulled pork sounds amazing too. Look forward to meeting you.

I've reccomended the Hampton inn to a few others as well, tons of shopping and restaurants nearby too.

Kewl, I'm happy to bring it so the FV15HP will make the trip too. I think it won't keep up with some of the SPL monsters but will do just fine in the accuracy department. Do you all think we should run it in one port max extension or two port max SPL mode?

I believe all the servo Rythmik's sound very similar. They differ in SPL, extension, and how they roll off between the sealed and ported.

I'm buying a second one by the end of the year... hmm maybe I need to pull the trigger a little early.

No worries, we are looking forward to hearing it. I'm sure it will hold it's own too, it seems to test and review very well! As for the mode, I'll leave that up to you. smile.gif Go for the second one!!

I would have had a definite answer today but not quite. I think I mentioned it before (sure hope so seeing at how large this is getting) but at this point my attendance is dependent upon my friend (non-avs member) whose SUV will be needed to get my sub to the gtg. (He has been really tied up and hasn't had time to think let alone answer me bugging him about the meet - he's building a house and today was the day he needed my help moving the heavy stuff to the new house. This is when I would have asked for a firm answer. But that fell through at the last minute and is now scheduled for Monday.)
However, I see an FV15HP is now on the list that you guys are excited about (I'm really curious too smile.gif ). Do you still need my E15 then?
