MED1000X3D High Definition 3D Multimedia Player - Page 5

Most NAS won't have any problems in streaming, but please note that a 3D blu-ray requires a lot more bandwidth than 2D

i was watching "legends of guardians 3D" the average streaming was 60mbps (7,5MB/s)

Brajesh thanks for this post

Some comments

* As explained on the Mede8er forum - The High Bitrate MKV inc DTSMA issue has been confirmed and it is a SDK problem and we cannot fix it ourselves. It has been reported to Realtek and we await a fix
* You can use GUI update and restore settings but it was reported that some settings were not being restored. Once we collect a list we will fix this
* Auto Frame Rate detection for 50 / 59.940 / 60 fps is not is V1.0.3 - 22Aug and will be added soon
* BD Playlist selector - still in dev so not implemented in this Beta
* Motion Bars - Once we add support for the ones mentioned above the the 50 fps will run smooth as well. MotionBars_1080p23.976.m2ts / MotionBars_1080p24.000.m2ts smooth our side with Samsung 51" Plasma so I dont know how to interpret your results
* You SBS stutter on London Olympics closing ceremony is not a Bitrate issue and must have something to to do with the fps in my opinion - this needs deeper investigation
* No Audio on YouTube video means that AAC is not being passed to your amp/ You need to use the AUDIO HDMI 'Auto' setting and then you will get ALL audio passed to your amp

Off to IFA Berlin so might not be able to post for a while

Expect some X3 Firmware update soon

We will release a new BETA with an hour that hopefully fixes the Pioneer amp Lip Sync 'off' issue. We dont have Pioneer amps so I would appreciate if the X3 owners that do have Pioneer amps test this release asap and give us some feedback

Hopefully it won't cause issues with other receivers (mine is an Onkyo TX-NR609) wink.gif. I have lip-synch enabled and didn't notice any issues. And, thanks for your replies above. I'll try my 3D SBS of the London Olympics closing ceremony on HiMedia HD900B, which I still have, to check if it stutters there as well. For the MotionBars_1080p23.976.m2ts and MotionBars_1080p24.000.m2ts, I hope others here can test on their displays and report back if they get stutter or not.

To anyone, for testing high bitrate content, besides 'Star Wars', which played fine for me, which titles would be good to try (looking for some really high bitrate ones)?

Best wishes at IFA Mede8er1. You guys have a solid 3D streamer in the 1000X3D. Even with the few issues so far, which will likely get resolved, I'm impressed by the player and the quality of support. Also, wanted to add that MediaConceptUSA, while the sole USA distributor it seems, is very good. Ordered my player on Saturday morning last week and had it in my hands by COB Monday. They also had updated the player's firmware before shipment. Good communication as well.

I want to buy one, but the price is too high. Can you offer any discount if I become beta tester for this box??

The latest firmware does address the lyp sync error. Pioneer sc-35 works now.

What you call "stutter"? Realtek bug - periodic stuttering with intervals 41.6s (repeat 1 frame every 1000 frames) for video 23.976fps. While 24.00fps played back smoothly. For example, Micca's bugfix in FW1.0.3.9 gives back problem - smooth play at 23.976fps and periodic stuttering at 24.00fps (in this case, skip frame every 1000 frames). So what makes a subj with FW1.0.3?
You have a Himedia HD900, which has a 23.976 bug. You notice the micro-freezes on it?

In this case, for which specified
Code:
V1.03 - 7Aug 2012 Changelog
Auto frame rate is designed to output the correct frame rate for NTSC or Pal content
If enabled
25fps ---> output changes to 50hz
29.97fps ---> output changes to 60hz (59.94)
?

I'm not following you, or maybe more specifically, I didn't look for the issue properly. By stutter, I mean the bars move jerkily across the screen, not a smooth flow. Am I instead supposed to look for a different kind of skip/jump every 41.6 seconds?

I know what a canton is: Is a region is Switzerland (there are three cantons, the french, the german and the italian)
On the other hand Canton is also a brand of speakers. Very good by the way, I also have a set.
Nice to see another portuguese here
Let's hope the portuguese dealer will have many units because I'm going to buy one soon as there are less bugs in the firmware
Best regards

In Germany now -- had some feedback that their could well be a new Beta today that fixes the MKV DTSMA Network Samba issue. They are currently testing so lets see if this will be released later tonight.

Pleasantly surprised as I thought you had to get an updated SDK from Realtek for that fix. Maybe the rumors about Realtek bowing out of chips for media players are exaggerated, or at least they're still solidly behind chips they've already released?

Posted my full review of Mede8er's MED1000X3D here. Please check it out and leave me comments there, kudos, jeers or anything in between wink.gif.

So, now passing the baton to Damian, whose reviews I always look forward to smile.gif.

Good job, and I am waiting for Damian's review too, but I am also waiting on the PCH and Dune new mexia players reviews.
Thanks. But, are we expecting anything from PCH for 3D?
According to the review, the MED1000X3D failed to play back 5 of the 9 test clips correctly.

That still sounds like your typical Realtek frame rate problems (which was the reason I stopped using Realtek players back in 2010).

So, despite all the bells and whistles, I still think flawless playback of files at their native frame rate is of fundamental importance.

Re: the motion bars test, what exactly are we looking for? That they pan across the screen smoothly, or that there's some kind of hiccup every 41.6 seconds? As I noted in the review, I wasn't sure if I did this test correctly.

Yeah, they should move across the screen smoothly (whether in frames or fields), without jumping (stuttering or jerking) irregularly/randomly.

It would probably help to watch each file for about a minute, although that takes a bit of patience. smile.gif

To those who would say "Who watches bars, anyway?", it's not about the content of the file/clip (bars or pink elephants), it's whether the file's being played back looking the way it's supposed to look.

And, at least with the SMP8643 chipset, all 9 test files do!

Video 24p - this is film cadence with inherent disadvantages . But the "stutter" - this is an artifact of playback.
To see 23.976 bug, should be observed for at least two conditions - the player has to run in 24p mode, and TV (projector) on multiple refresh rates (48/72/96/120Hz). In 3D mode to notice the "hiccup" can be even more difficult due to the conversion (3:2 pulldown) of video stream for each eye to 60Hz.
Here is a high-speed shooting of micro-freeze: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhOMBeqxuRE
and with smooth-processing in TV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAUrmz3q8jU

well .....if does youtube videos is to be observe at naked eye 2D or 3d the micca ep950 (23.99hz) doesn't have anything like that, in a tv or projector, does videos looks like my htpc with xbmc without the correct settings.

if the videos are filmed with a high speed camera, i also would like to see the same video recording, a proper 23.976 from a original disk in a proper 3D blu-ray player....if someone has done it....please send the link I'm very interested.

or if i get this high speed camera can i reproduce the same videos at 1000fps to spot the 24hz issue ?

Casio High-Speed Exilim EX-ZR300 or the Casio Exilim EX-ZR200 both record video at 1000fps

This stuff is getting over my head wink.gif. Just finished watching 'The Adventures of Tintin' 3D all the way though, and didn't notice any issues. Looked great.

For the price this is a good streamer. But it can look impressive in the beginning as picture is sharp. On my sony VW 95 projector it is clear that there is sharpening and EE, bothers me a lot.

I still looking for an alternative, meanwhile it is a very easy player, with a lot of possibilities. On a plasma this is very nice, but for my VW 95, I need something more refined...
Hopefully the price comes down to 149 USD and available on amazon at least for Couple of days,

I think they can sell more units at 149 price range, so it is in better interest of the company ...

I don't think they were having too many problems selling the 500X2 at over $200. Don't you mean it's in your best interest? I don't think it's in theirs. You have a very very long wait for that price if it ever happens...like when the player is obsolete.

I agree. This isn't a Micca player! Mede8er support, feautures and hardware are much better.
Every product is supported quite well for 3-6 months may be max 1 yr. It is the support after that which matters. These media players are getting obsolete in 18-24 months, so I feel 149 price point was ok to spend every 2 years??

Then you should get the Micca player, but you get what you pay for. To me this player is worth the extra $55 for an actual UI instead of the stock Realtek UI that the Micca uses. So looking at it from the 2 year perspective it will cost a little over $2 a month for a better user experience and more versatility. If that is going to make it or break it for you then I would suggest another hobby, this can get addicting. smile.gif

I don't know where you guys are buying for 200 USD, but I see 250+tax for wifi version on http://www.mediaconceptusa.com/mede8er.html Are you using any coupon codes to bring it down to 200?
