Some feedback for Mede8er X3D users regarding the new V2 Firmware

Our engineers have almost completed the initial porting of the Mede8er code to the new SDK and we got an internal test release today. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at how stable this beta is considering it is the first on the new SDK. So true 23.976 seems a reality and not a pipe dream and if we can fix the list of things that need attention we may well we in the Beta test phase by the weekend. This is not the only change and amongst other things is the all new flash based YouTUBE app ( Really Impressive smile.gif). We welcome any Mede8er X3D owner to join the X3D Beta Group and participate in the testing.

If you are interested pls send a mail to technical@Mede8er.com with your Mede8erforum.com user name and your location and list of equipment in your AV Setup.

Very exciting news indeed! I'm guessing when you say true 23.976 seems a reality you're including 3D frame-packed viewing also? If so then this is very good news.

I just ordered the MED1000x3D IN BLACK. I had one of the original units when they first shipped and had to move along because of some issues with them, mainly network performance. But I am in for good this time. Tired of messing with Openelec (NO 3D Support) And having to have PC hardware. Anyway I am ready to make this a go this time. I am looking at
yadis for my jukebox, we shall see how well that works out, and hopefully the NFS and SMB performance is better than it was. From what I have been reading it is. If not I will just use a built in HDD for those 3D/ High bitrate issues. One question, I use handbrake to support all my apple products, and a lot of my rips are variable FPS , that did not work before, is that still the case?? Would like to be able to watch those, do not want to re-encode all of them.

yes, has being mention few times 23,976 to every 3D format , iso , mkv, even does crappy downloads 2D.SBS.MKV a friend borrow me one so i can test it.
No one on their perfect mind download this stuff eek.gif

Hey, thanks for the confirmation! This is sounding more and more like the right player. I just downloaded the manual and it seems very thorough. It looks like Mede8er is taking this player seriously.

Yes very exciting news... And the timing is good, this morning I ship back my Popcorn Hour A400. After extensive evaluation, for my needs, the mee8er x3 is a better product.

Cant wait to try the firmware...

also heres some hmdi 1.4a specs possible for 3d format

HDMI 1.4a has several mandatory 3D formats these are specifically:
1. Frame Packing 1080p / 24 Hz.
2. Frame Packing 720p / 60 Hz (USA) or 50 Hz (in countries that support 50 Hz).
3. Side-by-side 1080i 60 Hz (USA) or 50 Hz (in countries that support 50Hz).
4. Top-Bottom 1080p / 24 Hz.
5. Top-Bottom 720p / 60 Hz (USA) or 50 Hz (in countries that support 50 Hz).

Anyone know if you can set the display size to a 2.35 ratio? I have a 2.35 screen and constant height setup and wonder if this player can "shrink" 16x9 3D content.

Hi,I'm new for here,sorry for my English,I'm from Canary island and I speak a little bit your language, here in Spain I don't get any information about med 1000 x3d,so I wanted to do some siple questions.
-can I buy the med 1000x3d in black?where? because in Spain only I've seen in amazon but they are in silver.
-if I buy it on the official web, do they sell me with the last firm?
- where they send me from and how much I could charge in shipping costs and customs?

I have 2.35 screen and i use lumagen Radiance processor to shrink 16x9 content when I play via Blu-Ray player.
I ordered 600x3D and would like to know what aspect to set in the player if we have a 2.35 aspect screen?

I play with yaDIS sofware to create the folder and about image for the med1000x3D. This program is great... Very simple and fast.

Quick question - I know there is a way to manually change the video dimensions if you're playing a video file that happens to be encoded in the wrong aspect ratio, which is a great feature. IS there a way to set automatic common ratios in such a case - say it was encoded as 16:9 or 5:4, but it should be 4:3, is there a way to quickly change it to 4:3 without having to manually stretch the sides and guess what looks right?

Just found out I was getting some money back from the Infernal Revenue Service and will be ordering a MED1000X3D. smile.gif

Wondering what people recommend for a 2TB hard drive to use and how long does it take to format it for use? I read the manual online and it says to format twice?!?

Also, Is anyone using the WiFi dongle or PCI and how satisfied are you with their performance? I have a Thermaltake BlacX docking station to transfer files to the hard drive, so I'm not sure if WiFi is useful or not.

Press zoom a couple of time and it will show an option to zoom X and Y separately. Just change Y to something like 135%.

Can this be used to shrink 16x9 to fit into a 2.35 screen as well? Spending 1600+ on a scaler is not in the budget right now.

You mean so that 16:9 shows with black bars on the sides on 2.35 screen? That would mean X less than 100%, need to check that.

I checked and yes you can reduce X all the way down to 50%, so more than enough to fit 16:9 on a 2.35 screen.

WOW! Thanks so much for checking that! This will be a perfect solution then to augment my HTPC (audio sync problems sometimes). And you have saved me some cash as I can now order it when I'm in the US and not get ripped like other Canucks have been.

Now if only you could magically fix the fact that my AVR is only 1.3 and won't pass 3D smile.gif

Hello,

I got my unit from Media Concept on Monday, I'm actually quite impressed with its LAN streaming abilities especially for 3D movies. I am running the lastest firmware and do see a problem with the picture, it smears. I'm not sure the correct terminology, but basically there's color bleeding on it vertically. I can only best describe it as if it's out of convergence. Is anybody else noticing this or can check on it? I don't see that on the pictures posted by RickAVManiac above. Maybe I just have a defect. When I switch over to my Dune, I don't see it. I tried it on three different displays and see the same thing. Thanks!

Hmm, never seen this. In video settings, do you have it at 'HDMI Auto' for TV system, 24Hz enabled (if your display supports it), and auto framerate 'Off'?

Yep... I tried various settings and still see the same thing, that's why I even tried different displays and see the same.

Canton - I don't think the screen size would be related, but I play with that as well. I actually was even hoping to correct it by sending thru the HDMI input of the Oppo 105 and still saw the same this. So obviously, when it smears or bleed like this, it makes the picture less sharp. This may just be an isolated incident so I would like to confirm that with some of the owners here to see if they observed the same or not. I really like this player though and would very much like to keep it. I'll probably asked for an exchange.

A user in UK reported a similar thing and I suggested that he does a 'Restore Default' and it fixed his problem. Pls please try this --> Setup Menu ---> System ---> Restore Default

Does anybody know if this is an option? Just wondering if there's a quick way to switch aspect ratios from 16:9 to 4:3 for instance, instead of having to "guess" and re-shape the ratio manually. If I play a wrongly-encoded video, how will I know when I get it just "right" - is there a way to force it to play as 4:3?
