MED1000X3D High Definition 3D Multimedia Player - Page 27

I'm routing X3D HDMI output via Oppo BDP-103 as I don't have 3D compatible receiver.
I changed X3D audio output to HDMI LPCM Multich as oppo only accepts LPCM on its HDMI inputs.

But I'm only getting 2ch output from X3D for all types of files mkv, dvd iso, bd iso and 3D iso.

I tested Oppo BDP-103 with other input source and it correctly accepts LPCM signal.

I've experimented with all audio options (HDMI, Force AAC decode, Surround sound) but nothing send multich output.frown.gif

What settings do i need to get multich LPCM output from X3D?

That is the expected behavior. When you set the HDMI output for multi channel it will only send out 2ch audio (unless the original source is multi ch PCM, in which it will send out as is). Unfortunately most players are doing this now, I assume to avoid licensing costs?

This means when I have BD Iso/mkv with DTS-HD X3d won't decode it to LPCM multi ch and would downscale to 2ch. So why is there is an audio option for LCPM mutich and Downmix 2ch. I would assume if your source is Multich PCM it should work with HDMI Pass throu/Auto as well.
I don't see any need for LPCM multi ch option?
I need to understand. Can u please elaborate?

AFAIK none of the current streamers decode Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD, the Dunes with older firmware may. As to why the options are there I would guess for regular Dolby and DTS which I believe are decoded.

The Audio options are a bit confusing. This is best I can see how it works with the Mede8er under HDMI:

- Passthru: All audio gets sent through untouched to AVR
- Multi Ch: A bit deceiving, all audio will get downmixed to 2ch stereo except for multi ch PCM
- Downmix: All audio will get downmixed to 2ch stereo

So correct, via HDMI the X3D will decode to HD Audio to 2ch stereo and not multi ch PCM. I can just guess this is for licensing reasons, and the reason why this has been removed from just about all players

Hey Guys - I've noticed a small issue during playback of my mkv files from my home server over my LAN to my 1000X3D. At least once or twice during file playback I will notice a small stutter where the video and audio pause for maybe 1 second or less but its quite annoying as it has happened probably the last 4 films I have watched. These files are primarily 4GB - 8GB in size and have DTS audio but never DTS-hd. My home server is a Windows Server 2008 box and I am streaming over gigabit LAN via SMB. Are there any tweaks I could use that would fix this issue or should I try using NFS?

Sorry to go off topic, but any chance you could check and see if the oppo will allow you to scale video via the hdmi? Specifically 16x9 shrunk to fit a 2.35 screen (black bars on the side)? I asked in the oppo thread but know one knew. If it does I will buy one to hook my xbox and ps3 up to.

There is a zoom option on Oppo but i don't think that will work. But I could try later and report back if it works.
I use Lumagen Radiance to switch between 16.9 and 2.35 in my 2.35 setup without zooming Projector lens. This works out great with a press of a button.

Here is the response by Oppo CS
"At this time the player is not able to compress 16:9 so there are bars on the side. We can only vertically and horizontally stretch the video. The ability to pillarbox 16:9 is something that we are looking into supporting through a possible future firmware release."

WOW that was really good of you to even email Oppos CS and ask. I never even thought to email them. Thanks! I'll keep watching for firmware updates. What would be even more sweet is if it could scale 3D on the input as well for video games!

Back to your regularly scheduled topic.

I've been enjoying my 600x3d. It's been playing 3D iso's really well over SMB. NFS was strange for me as it would freeze every 10 seconds or so for a good second. No problems over SMB though from my WHS 2003 Server version.

Looks good. I will send an email to tech support shortly. I thought I was set up for beta but just went to the forum and realized it is only for the 1185

I was looking at buying a MED1000X3D and am coming from a media player that I use TViXiE for all the artwork.
TViXiE also supports Mede8er, but will all the new Jukebox features require Y2M or will TViXiE still function nicely?

im posting this info that seems is not mention in any of recent topics about the mede8er players

Anyone ripping their movies with makemkv with english audio track and require only subtitles for foreign language and alien language in some movies, need to leave the correct forced subtitles tick so that makemkv rip the appropriate subtitles.

the subtitle definition must be on in GUI , at the start of the movie and without user intervention, when the english subtitle are required to translate the foreign/alien, the subtitle is show up on the screen.

this metod is supported in med1000x3d and mede600x3d in version 1.0.5 and 2.0.0

Heres a example of avatar , the freench forced subtitles only show up when they speak na´vi.

it works flawless with MKV format , i tested few movies , like district 9 , avatar, inglorious basters etc

So to confirm, you are keeping subtitles on in the GUI settings for the Mede8er?

So it is really just a work around, not true implementation of forced subs (i.e. with forced subs they should appear even if subs are shut off). I believe what you are seeing, if MakeMKV sees forced subs it will set the default flag to true for that track, and my guess is that is what the Mede8er is picking up on (which I believe is standard to load the sub track that is flagged as default). The problem with this is for people who have subtitles in all their videos but don't want to constantly have to turn them off (which you would have to do by keeping subs turned on)
Canton, I can assure you it is not flawless. MakeMKV did a horrible job pulling forced subs from Avatar in my experiments. I had to remux the file with MKVmerge with a good stream extracted by BDSup2sub. The Mede8er on 1.0.5 DOES NOT recognize the forced subtitle flag so this is a band aid fix. You are simply turning on subtitles in the player defaults and as long as the forced stream is the first one it will display automatically, it's the method I've been using up until now. My experiment doing this with MKV was not flawless either. The Med completely ignored the first sub in Avatar while in ISO form it does not.

I just joined the Beta so hopefully this weekend will get it installed, too bad you can't share progress outside of the Beta.

Update

X3D - V2 will support an Aggregated Movie JukeBox so that content can by aggregated across SMB and NFS shares on different PC's NAS devices as well as Internal HDD and USB drives connected to the X3D.

That is great news, one of my complaints with the current jukebox based on how my library is set up. I should be able to start testing out the v2 Beta this weekend

ordered- thanks for the info- hope I get along with it better than boxee, it's been a love/hate relationship
post #806 of 888
Well I just hit the order button. This will be my first media streaming device besides my roku.

Now its time to work on building an unraid server and start ripping my collection.

Any advice on ISO or MKV? Is one better for forced subs? Im okay with menus or even movie only and HD audio to save on space. I just want to choose whatever is stable. I don't have any 3d movies and won't be getting any.

Makemkv for 2D you will be fine, you still save some space.

Doesn't matter, it doesn't recognize forced subs currently. MKV seems more stable in my experience thus far, I get micro HD audio drops and occasional video stutter with ISO.
Thanks guys, I'll give mkv a go first.

Are you guys using makemkv or something else?
MakeMKV and sometimes a combination of MakeMKV and MKVmerge with a couple others for those that MakeMKV has issues with. For instance I only tried the forced sub once with MakeMKV but it didn't do a very good job so ended up remuxing with MKVmerge and the stream extracted by another program. The band aid fix for forced subs is either have the forced sub stream the first subtitle stream, or in my case the only subtitle stream, and then turn on subtitles in the player defaults.
