Stick with the Green drives (I prefer the Seagate LP drives, I have heard there are some issues with the WD Green drives on other media players)

Please head over here and vote for this request - http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,9754.0.html. You may need register first though.

There are already a couple of preset requirements, vertical stretch and 16:9 squeeze on 2.35 screen.

Please let me know if anyone here has a lot of Apple TV m4v/mp4 rips. I do and this player does not like variable frame rate. Even though the videos keep a constant farm, handbrake has them as variable in the atv preset, even high profile did that as well. Any easy way to play them on this unit? Also anyone get lossless PCM to work? Casino royal has that soundtrack and I get nothing from the med1000x3d. Thanks for any help.

I have asked our engineers to look at this and make two presets that the user can make and save. I expect if workable it would be implemented in V2.

Got my med 1000x3d yesterday, Love what has been done since the launch, a lot of issues fixed. Much better NSF performance, even smb seems better. The stutters I used to have before are gone.mi do have issues with mp4 files, I thought it was a variable frame rate issue, but I just did a new encode at fixed 23.976 and still have the issue? If I start the video file I have 5.1 Dolby digital playing and displayed on info in the player, but no video? If I change to the 2 channel audio the video comes on without a issue? I have 100 or more handbrake files for my Apple TV that I would like to play. Any ideas? I love this player, and am in for good this time. Hopefully I can figure out this issue, thanks for any help!

Yep, tested the high bitrate 'Bird' clips from 'Planet Earth', and even the 90 Mbps clip plays smoothly via NFS 32K. SMB however, all but the 60 Mbps stuttered for me.

would love to know this as wsell. Since we get screwed with the possible duty over here it makes it tough to purchase. Also any issues arise then the cost/ trouble to get it repaired.

I also thought NFS issues were sorted out with 32k but today I saw DTS HD become noisy in Ice Age 4 3D iso.

Changing the HDMI audio to decode to multi channel PCM sorts it out though. So that's a temporary fix.

Has anyone tried setting Surround sound under setup to AC3/DTS and then tried switching audio tracks to lossless during playback? I'm on 1.0.4 and it doesn't work. Setting it to TrueHD/DTS-HD and switching tracks during playback works fine.

Just buy it from Mediaconcept (website or eBay) and then pay the import fees, they are the same as paying GST/PST at your Futureshop!

OK, I've been a popcorn hour owner for years now so I am totally out of the game. Been reading for days now. I didn't realize there are so many other solutions out there.
I am just starting to get into higher end stuff so I am looking for a new media streamer.

This is what I want my new media streamer to do.

Play MKV (all bit rates) - seems they all day that just fine.
Be able to pass DTS HD and DOLBY TRUE HD to my New Receiver.
Play Blu Ray off HDD - ISO and Folder rips (full menu support) -- I just ripped all the Star Trek TNG Disc to my server and my Popcorn and WDLive cannot play them right. So I need support for blu ray as if it were the actual disc (I do not own a blu ray player )
BD LITE too - so I can jump past the Spam.
BLU RAY 3d and MKV 3d play back (not that important but I want to experiment)

I was looking at the med1000x3d but read it does not support full BR Rip menus.
I also started reading about these DUNE media players. THE B1 D1 and H1 - which one is the best ? Or what is the best Dune player?

Any and all suggestions will be super appreciated.

Thanks in advance and merry Xmas to you all.

If my information is right, no new media players will be able to ofer full bd menu, only bd lite. My memory is bad, but it could have something to do, that only full menu can be available with a bd license. So a Oppo player, who plays the physical disc, can offer the full menu from your hard drive. As the 103 and 105 have cinavia implanted, maybe your best option is to buy a second hand Oppo93, like I did.

I still have the Mede8er x3! Image quality is a bit above on the Oppo (more depth and cinema like), bu the X3, plays really everything I throw at it, while the Oppo, has some issues with some Mkv, and the subtiles on these are really not nice.

Sorry but what you want doesn't exist. No new media plays support full BD Menus. The Dune Smart series does, but it does not support Blu Ray 3D. If having full BD Menu support is your top priority then I highly recommend the Dunes (I have 3), as long as you are fine with losing Blu Ray 3D support

Like I said 3d is not important really (would just be something to play with) but BD menus are important to me. SO Dune is the way to go?
What are the best Dunes out there?

The Dunes and the PCH 200/300 series have BD Menu and BD Lite support. If I remember the PCH 200 series does not downmix TrueHD in mkv (not a good situation for you, even if you currently pass thru since you may down the road move the player to a spot where you need downmix). The 300 series has some bugs that would keep me away from .The current Dune series are all the same as far as playback, (with the exception of the TV series which I would skip) just different hardware specs.

However, this is a Mede8er thread, so would rather not derail further by talking about other brand media players

Sorry to bring up an older post, but I would like to know if turning auto frame rate off affects your other videos (non 25fps videos).

Thanks!
