Zappiti Advice

Thread Starter
I just completed set up of my new Dune H1 - works great, but my next step is to add a jukebox. Based upon many comments/advice here, I have decided to try Zappiti first (and last I hope!!!). I just downloaded the two latest versions of Zappiti (v2.4.27.0 and then v2.4.25.0). Neither one will load (Win7-64).

Error message is something like:

Zappiti has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program...

Once I get a version to actually run on my PC, my plan is to follow Damian's guide (big plus up here!) for set up.

Q1 - all my rips (about 1000 so far) are SD DVD's to Movie_TS folders (multiple vob files, etc.). Will this container work with Zappiti? I notice that many rip to iso or mkv. I have not ventured to BR yet, but plan to in the near future - this will require a storage solution (NAS, etc.).

Thanks, Tom

can't help you about your problem, but regarding video_ts, iso, mkv, this shouldn't be any problem for zapp.

May be you can ask for help here : http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23073

I don't understand why you downloaded two different versions. You should of downloaded and installed the latest version. I would suggest to uninstall Zappiti, and re-install the latest version and see if that fixes the issue. My PC is W7 / 64, and I don't have any issues with Zappiti.

This link was very helpful for me in setting up Z. I also run W7 64 bit.

GusGus,

I first downloaded the latest version of Zappiti (released on 7/6/2012), but it didn't install. I uninstalled it, then downloaded the previous version (6/21/2012). It didn't install either. Since you all haven't had the same issue and are running Win7/64 this is probably a local issue with my machine so I will investigate further.

Sounds like I may be able to use my existing movie files - this will save me a lot of time.

Thanks for the help. I will let everyone know what the issue is with my machine if it could be relevant to others.

I just tried v2.4.14.0 with the same result. But I noticed the software is actually installing - the error message happens when I click the "start software" and when I try to start Zapp thereafter (I do get the icon on my desktop). The lower left hand corner (a bar) indicates "loading database" - shortly thereafter it hangs...

That's weird. You should post a thread about this issue at mpcclub.com forum, and see if anyone has had the same issue.

It is a bit strange and I have now joined the MPC Club Forum and made a post. After reviewing alot of their posts/info I have tried a few things (firewall access, deletion of apps/local folders and files, review of registry keys), but nothing seems to resolve the issue yet. I am now trying to use v2.4.14.0 which apparently is a very stable version.

One post (buried pretty deep in the forum) seems to indicate that someone had an issue using win7/64 with a quad core. I will either resolve this or move to plan B. Oops, I mean come up with another plan.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

My PC is a AMD Phenom II X4 925 Quad Core with Win 7 / 64 bit, and I've never had any issues with Zappiti or any other jukebox.

Did you install the microsoft .net framework 3.5 frame work as well? You need this in order to make Zappiti work as well here's the link:

Also some people who have Tubo Tax installed in their machine have said that it interfered with Zappiti. They stated that they uninstalled Turbo Tax and Zappiti started working fine. So, if you've got Turbo Tax in your PC, try uninstalling it and see if that works.

I just got the same info from the MPC forum. TT has been uninstalled and I have just started Zappiti for the first time. Now the fun begins - planning to use Damians Guide for the set up and would appreciate anyone elses advice as well.

Thanks to all. Tom

Awesome. Good to know that you've got it going. I've been using Zappiti since I've got my D1. I was going to try Yadis just to see how it is, but why bother when I've got Zappiti running already. It is simple, easy and looks good.

Also, I do have a tax software installed in my computer, but it isn't Turbo Tax. It's H&R Block, and this one doesn't interfere with Zappiti.
