Help with my new wd live hub with 1tb-connecting without my own network

I just bought a new wd tv live hub from best buy. I bought this thinking I wouldn't need anything else to connect-considering I currently use wifi on all the other things at my house. I typically piggy back on my landlords internet or network and he doesn't know so I cant just go ask him to change any of his settings but I was wondering if there is any way to connect to the same network with my new device if i dont have access to the network settings. I can see all the ip and gateway and dns stuff but only the ip address will come back as being correct but it still says can not connect bad signal or wrong settings. I assume i need atleast a wireless adapter hooked up to it right? so is there any way to get on when your piggy backing on someone elses network? or can i hook a ethernet cord to my computer that is connected to the internet and share it that way? or maybe my ipod touch?

I would suggest to pay for your own internet and build your own network. Also, l would suggest to let your neighbor know that he needs to secure his network.

Thank you for your advice-unfortunately, not what I was looking for. I guess when someone has an open network doesn't mean it should be taken advantage of. My landlord, not my neighbor, actually doesn't live there. It is an internet connection that is always on and not use by anyone but me. I guess me utilizing that isn't very honest but I definitely make up for this dishonest action by mowing the office lawn weekly for free. I consider that a good trade. But, thanks for the unhelpful guilt trip-not that i blame you. I won't be telling my land lord what to do with his network- for all I know he has it that way on purpose and that's his choice. Pretty sure there are plenty of warning messages about the vulnerability of his choices when it was set up.

I am not trying to make you feel guilty, but you should ask rather than just using it. May be he doesn't know that anyone can use his network. Furthermore, it is up to you to mow the lawn. I don't believe he is forcing you to do it. May be you can work something out were you help him secure his network, and you can use it as long as you keep mowing the lawn. That way you can get all the information that you need to set up your device(s) properly.
