Upgrading my 5.1 Home Theater, what needs to be addressed?

Currently have the following for my main condo room setup:

STR-DG720 Sony Receiver
Polk Monitor 50's for my two fronts
Polk CS1 for my Center speaker.
Bose 161 for my rears
Acoustech PL-20 sub

I am thinking my receiver, since it is old. It lacks new technology (ipod hookup, online radio, wireless, etc)

Any comments or suggestions?

What's your budget?
Typically one should plan to spend about twice as much on the speaker system as on the electronics.

A modern receiver with room equalization software (e.g. Onkyo or Denon) usually can make a noticeable improvement in the quality of the sound you hear..

Get a new reciever with newer format, internet radio and so on. You can enjoy it without any additional expenditures.

Thanks. I am thinking receiver. I'll start researching to find a good model I can buy that will last me a few years down the road. I agree, room equalization software seems key these days on a receiver. My current one doesn't offer this.
