If your review projector is arriving tomorrow then our pre orders hopefully will follow soon.
Are we talking about a review unit / Pre-Orders from Avscience?

Dan W didn't I buy a SP4805 from you years back? We talked about our friend Aaron and the Fish House in town?

Our review HW50 should arrive tomorrow, I'll check it out and let you guys know if there is a similar noise in 3D mode with the high settings.

I still have my HW30 and it doesn't make the sound I hear on my HW50 when in 3D mode. Tried all of the brightness settings for the glasses and makes no difference, only changes the pitch of the sound slightly. Also put the fan into high mode and that has no effect either. It's definitely not a sound caused by a mechanical part so must be in the electronics. I'm at work right now so will trouble shoot more in the next few days.

Thanks for the info. I'll let you guys know if I hear it on this particular HW50.

How noticeable is it from a few feet away?

That 4805 was my first projector. I still dont think i have ever been as thrilled as when i first fired it up on my homemade screen. And yes i still see Aaron at my restaurant from time to time. I dont imagine you still have the 4805. It sounded like a hair dryer and had screen door the size of bricks, but i loved it.

I believe they received an order today and also early next week as well. I would expect a shipping notification soon. This is sooner than I was expecting, so good news for those who lined up early. smile.gif

Well hopefully your doesn't have this problem, it sucks cause convergence is excellent as well as focus across the whole screen is great too. Call me crazy but I'm a little disappointed in the brightness as it doesn't seem much brighter than my HW30 and I'm using a 1.7 gain screen.

As far as the buzzing sound you can detect it from over 10 feet away so it's something that shouldn't be there.

Rick can you confirm this is true when in any 3D mode? That's the only time it happens.

In 3D mode, if I put my receiver on mute, I cannot ear anything 5 feets from the projector. As I move closer to the projector (maybe 2 feets) I begin to ear the buzz you talk about. At one feet the sound is very clear but still not loud at all.

Hope this help...

I have the buzzing to in 3d mode....

I guess there really alot of buzz about this projector.

This buzzing sound is starting to look like an issue, if you hear the buzz when your in 3D mode please report it to Sony so they know there's a problem, because when I reported it they said they have never heard of this problem yet and now that a few of us have the projector it seems a few are hearing it which could mean this is not an isolated incident.

Can we get confirmation that a HW30 does not have any buzz at the same distances and settings, not from a recollection but a current test ?

Generally speaking, how do you think the HW30 compares to the HW50 in black levels etc.?

Yes, please report it. The US number is 877-865-7669. It only takes a few minutes and it might be best to get to customer support not tech support. Tech support will agree to a replacement right now as I did and the second unit was the same. If enough people call they will turn it into a defect that will make it's way to engineering.

When comparing the two, you can definitely see a difference in black levels, it's not huge but you can see that it's better than the HW30.

Also makes the buzzing sound when I try 3D in SBS as well.

Three people here in sweden have heard the same buzzing sound from their hw50s..

Just wanted to report a quick fix if you have the buzzing sound when in 3D mode on the HW50, I have found the source of the buzz and its coming from the integrated 3D sensor on the projector. Since I have the HW30 as well here is a quick fix, take the external sensor that comes with the HW30 and plug it into the HW50 and that seems to bypass the sensor on the HW50 and eliminates the buzzing. It's a band aid approach but does show a faulty sensor is the problem on the HW50. I have recorded the noise but not sure how to attach it to the post so if someone could let me know I can add that as well. I can also now report this to Sony and hopefully they can find a fix a lot quicker so I hope this helps everyone who has a HW50.

Hi : shadow39

I don't know what is the external sensor .
Do you mean the Sony-TMRPJ1-3D-Emitter?

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-TMRPJ1-3D-Emitter/dp/B005GUAIJC/ref=pd_cp_e_2

Or can you post a link to where I can buy the sensor.

I have ordered the HW50, but i am really sensitive to high frequency noise.

Yes that's the sensor, TMR PJ1 3D emitter, I was working with very little sleep so forgot to say the model number so thanks for adding the link and all, I also recorded the buzzing on my iPhone 5 and sent it to tehotaone and he says he will provide a link so anyone can hear it.
