It seems to have no problem with that sort of thing. I can rumble the pictures right off the wall if I want. What this thing never seems to do is hit! For music I have not been able to do anything to get this thing to fill in the low end. Even on your standard rock kick drum it falls totally flat. Sometimes I can't even tell if the thing is working while listening to music.

I have it hooked to a Yamaha RX-V471 along with a set of Athena Point 5 speakers. It is next to the seating area as I use a front pj and all of the gear is at the back of the room. Even if I had the cable length this is really the only logical position for it. My previous sub, which was floor firing, did fine in this position. The sub did get better when I turned it around to face the wall which is an inside wall. I used the Yahama's YPAO configuration and adjusted the sub volume until the receiver had the sub around 0db. I then bumped it up a bit as YPAO seems to set the sub to be a little quiet. While listening to music I tried turning it way up but all that managed to do was make the sub rumble very loudly. One thing I will note is that I have not secured the port tube yet. It is attached but not glued. Could this be causing such disappointing performance? To me it seems like the driver is more likely the problem. It barely seems to move.

If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. I've read a lot that this unit gets better after it is broken in but it seems like nothing is changing to me and I feel like I wasted money on it even with the "sale" price considered. Thanks.

I wish could think of something other than room placement since you pretty much eliminated that. Could you just move it to test? That at least might illuminate something. For my room I have it hot by a few db for movies and really have to turn it down for 2.1 music about four db on the AVR. If I leave it where I like it for movies the music is overpowered by bass, if a had a universal remote I might use the RW12d's presets but for now just play with the AVR settings. Are you using some of your yammy's DSP settings? like a music hall setting or something? that could really be changing output. Make some changes to the room and AVR dsp setting before giving up. Also classic rock and Jazz tuned bass and drums don't really get below the mid 30Hz range. Have to go to electronic sounds to really get low not sure what you are listening too?

Obviously, you didn't see his follow-up post (#598). He's a happy camper now (with a nice, solid port tube).

Nothing beats measuring equipment and real EQ, but good old trial and error can get decent results, too.

He traded his Ferrari for 7 Klipsch...or something like that.

8 wrongs don't make a right:)

That might be a good choice for you, but not for everyone. If I wanted SVS I'd want at least 2 SW not 1. Unless I had plans to buy another, or, like me have 4 SW so if that one goes out at least I have a backup.

There is no Right or Wrong, it is NOT that type issue.

Btw, they would run me outa that thread for being rude, whether that was my intent, or not.

On t'other hand that $2K SVS may be best for him, but not likely.

What would you recommend, Mr. Bond?

I would wait for the RW12d as you suggested but if he has the already has the money then the NX BAS 500 should easily outperform the Bic F12.

Personally, I'm gonna wait & see if newegg gets more New Stock.

2 year Warranty Vs. 90 days, only $30 savings on refurb.

Thank you for posting, some may wish the savings, &, for now, availability.

Some guy near me has 2 for sell. $450
But he won't just sell 1 frown.gif

90 day warranty. Refurbished by whom? Ground shipping was $25 for me. Seems like a smarter choice to wait for Newegg to put these on sale again.
