Congrats with the Bryston SP3, very nice unit
I was there when CM developed the modification for the Bryston. It was Lars his unit.
What Masterkale meant is that the modified AV 8801 comes really close to the modified AVP (which is still Reference btw not the Bryston). I do own the latest version of the CM AVP too. The modified AV 8801 is a higher level pre-pro compared to the 7701/7005 (modified). Lars his opinion is based on stock units between the AV 7005/7701 and the 8801. In that case the difference is not that big.
One thing that i will have to mention is that Lars did not use any modified amps from CM, for making this review. So the chain was not complete.
Lars makes very clear in this review not to buy blind, and that this review is based on his experience only. But i think this guy is in the position to make these reviews because of his beautiful demo rooms with nice acoustic treatments, and the rest of his beatiful system.
But i guess i will not have to explain the German language to you
About the High End Munich show 2013 (i was there too) they really did a great job with building that small demo (not mutch time) room which is really hard to make it perfect (acoustic matter and a lot of people that act like absorbers) and still sounded really good. But not to be compared to his own place.
If i would not have the AVP and needed to buy a new pro it will be the Bryston or the modified AV 8801.
Have fun with your beatiful Sp3
