I have a VPI Scoutmaster with a Benz Micro Ruby H cartridge and an Audio Research Phono 2 SE pre.
I enjoy vinyl more than any other source.
While I do agree with you that DSD is not absolutely essential, I do question this statement. Do you really think that any consumer processor can do this in a way that is comparable to what is heard from a discrete multichannel source?
It is frustrating to me that multichannel prepros and AVRs (not just Bryston) will do only stereo via their USB or Ethernet inputs. Does anyone know of any exceptions?
Nope. Many DACs convert via a multibit-SD stage since it can be an intermediary for PCM and DSD. So, one might say that, in those (and I have used several), they convert PCM to SD.
