Setup Question: New Yamaha Rx-V673 and Sub

Hello everyone. I am a long time follower of these forums but this is my first time posting. After receiving mixed messages from the manufacturers' themselves, i knew that this would be the place i would receive clarification. Thanks in advance for any advice. My question is regarding the connection of my new yamaha Rx V673, 7.2 channel receiver with my sub. I have already done a search but i was unable to find the answer to my particular question. My question is regarding the connection of a single subwoofer, a chrysalis by velodyne starfire 10 to the receiver which has 2 sub outs labeled "sub1" and "sub2". I was planning on connecting a single rca cable from "sub1" on the back of my receiver to the back of the sub which has both left and right input jacks. I was going to connect it to the LFE on the rear of the sub, but i did purchase a Y splitter to connect to both left and right inputs if i felt the LFE only was not working properly. After reading the manual for the sub, i began to question my before mentioned approach. The sub manual states ""IF using line level jacks, Both the left and right input should always be used-never use just the left or right input. If the subwoofers input comes from the LFE channel of your receiver, use a Y splitter to supply the singal input to both connectors on the sub." My question is regarding the "sub1" on the rear of my receiver. Is "sub1" like an lfe channel, which would need to be split or does it function differently. i contacted yamaha and there response was "If you subwoofer requires that you use both Left & Right inputs, you can use the Sub 1 & 2 output on the receiver for that". Now i am thoroughly confused..should i be using a y spliiter on the rear of my receiver to connect to both "Sub1" and "sub2"? and then use a y spliiter on the rear of the sub as well? I do not want to make this more complicated than it needs to be, so i will stop here and wait for the experts to reply. IF i left anything out, please ask and i will respond with more information. I really appreciate the response. I'm sorry about some of my terminology mistakes as this is my first home theater setup and I am just trying to learn as much as i can. Im thankful for your answer because nowhere in my 165 page owner's manuel does it talk about using both sub1 and sub2 jacks on the receiver simultaneously to power one sub. As far as connecting a sub goes, the manuel shows only one rca cable connected to "sub1" on the back of the receiver in a 5.1 or 7.1 setup. Guess i just dont understand exactly how this works or why the information is not provided in the manuel.
