Are there any actual ES9000 owners out there?
post #62 of 283
Remlee....I noticed from reading the beginning of the post in this thread that you are indeed a owner of the 75ES9000. I have been trying to find good reviews of this set for the past month...but all I ever see on net are reviews that don't go into specifics about how the set performs. I have been to 3 magnolias in my area and nobody carries this tv, so I can't check it out in person. My main concerns are flashlighting, clouds, uniformity issues, etc.(especially at this price point) Me and my family love watching movies with the lights off, and I love blacks that are deep with the lights on, and also without lights. Can you tell me if this set looks good with the lights off?...How is the overall quality control?...does the set have any of those other issues I mentioned?.....Also how is the bezel color....does the bezel have any black in it?...I am unsure how a rose gold bezel will look. as I am used to black bezels. I am close to considering this tv, but there has been absolutely no talk about this Tv on this forum or anywhere else for that matter. I am very nervous about buying a edge-lit set at this size, and when I read samsung topics all I hear about is how bad edge lit set are, how terrible uniformity issues are, and I don;t want to make a bad decision. So if you can tell me if you are happy with the set, and what pros and cons you have noticed since purchasing the set...that would be appreciated. Thanks

I have had this TV for about two weeks now. I am completely amazed and blown away by the PQ, but like JewDaddy said I have a bit of buyers remorse ONLY due to the price tag. I can honestly say I have seen NOTHING out there that looks as good as this TV, but I cant help but to keep remembering I dumped $10k on this thing! Please dont take it as any knock on the TV itself. The black levels are staggering, there is no banding, clouding, flashlighting or any other anomalies. Its near to perfect as I could ask for... except the price. Again, best PQ I have seen in a television. The cost just needs to be reduced by about 40%.

I do not have an option to return it though, so I will probably stick with it for years until 4K source material shows up in the mainstream.

If anyone would like pictures, let me know. Please post if anyone gets hold of some calibration settings!

There are reviews out on it on cnet.
ABT
Vanns
Sears
are just a few of the places I've seen it "in stock" or shipping shortly.
I've not personally seen one in the store yet.
I'm sure there are some stores around the Houston, TX area where I live that would have them by now but I've not called around yet.

Not really a review. Just pre-release information.
post #67 of 283
Yea I saw that cnet review also....it doesn't go into anything of importance about the Tv as far as a in depth review.....If anyone has this Tv or knows if Chad b did a review on it can shed some light that would be great smile.gif.....Also thanks for your post Surfrider....you helped big time!

Someone that buys this set and spends $9k on it needs to spend the few hundred dollars and get it professionally calibrated. Face it, most people just use it with factory settings and don't know any better. They get what they get.

Just purchased this set today and it's scheduled to be delivered on the 24th. Confident in my purchase. And yes, it will be calibrated by a professional. Otherwise might as well get a Vizio or Magnavox from Walmart.

agreed

but how can anyone expect an edge lit TV to compare with a full array?

I have no idea where they came up with this price on an edge lit set

seriously?

@freedom88 and @MATA7

Hi, what is the 3D crosstalk like? Ive had a 55ES8000 and a 60ES8000 both had terrible crosstalk and bad light bleeding (torchlight) on all for corners. I returned both of the ES8000's and purchased a 65VT50 which was replaced once for buzzing and fan noise, I then returned the second VT50 in exchange for a ES9000 for $7,471.00 with an extra 6 pairs of glasses thrown in, delivery date 4th Nov. The 3D on the Panasonic was so much better than the ES8000 series with very little crosstalk, you had to look for it to actually see the crosstalk. I hope they improved the corsstalk on the ES9000 otherwise its going back and Ill wait for OLED or the LG 84" 4K..
post #80 of 283
i don't see any crosstalk 2 me 3D play nice i watch like 4 3D Movies already, i have some clouding very little but for the price i pay for this TV i have to have 0 Clouding, so bestbuy will delivery a new TV this Wednesday, btw no banding on this tv
post #81 of 283
Thanks MATA7. Im really looking forward to receiving it more now :-)

I do not blame you for exchanging it, when you pay that sort of money for their high end product you expect pefectioin..

Have had this TV since Saturday and I cannot say enough about how good the picture is even without calibration (we went from a 55 inch Samsung which I thought was big when we bought it).
We have it hooked up to Bell FibeTV and the quality is excellent. Perhaps the best 3-D movie is Avatar and I can say we have watched it more than once and it is exceptional with no imperfections in the picture. Lots of features to figure out and will post more later.

@bronte543

Thanks for the update. I'm really looking forward to taking delivery of this beauty and I hope the 3D is better than the VT50 as it was almost perfect..

I saw the 75ES9000 in person the other day next to a 65ES8000, both were playing the same demo at the same time and there was a scene from the transformers where the ES9000 had vertical lines on moving objects as well as the picture was a bit jumpy where as the ES8000 played it smooth. Can anyone explain what causes this issue. Maybe just different setting?

Most likely the settings were not the same. It's very quick and easy to get into the menu and compare settings. Once those settings mirror each other, then you can see if there is a difference in picture quality. One would think that the ES9000 being 3x the cost of the ES8000 would have a better picture in all modes.

any price-drops on this set on the horizon? At $9K it's still a bit of a whopper. Not sure I can justify the $5K increase over the 65" ES8000
