Any hope for 4K RPTV's?

Is it even possible?

Or is crappy 1080P as good as it gets?

If it's possible maybe we might starting seeing sets as early as next year........? redface.gif

I'm gonna have to wait a long long time for that price to come down before I could even remotely afford that. frown.gif

That TV right there is actually what made me post this thread. RPTV's are still the king for a BIG TV with a small price tag. So will they be able to make a 4K TV in an RPTV format? Or will we have to pay an arm and a leg for something like that LG set? Are we stuck with crappy 1080p on RPTV's? mad.gif

Trust me...that price is crazy for 99% percent of us. I was being tongue in cheek.

But the prices will come down to sane levels at some point.

I guess, theoretically, a 4K DLP RPTV is possible. It's always about money.

Since the 73, 82, 92", and above has gotten more popular and most people agree it could definitely use the higher resolution at the bigger picture segment instead of sitting further back. Sure, if you are on a Tiny 65" or below LCD/Plasma, 1080p is plenty for you.tongue.gif

I hope you're right about 4k. Thing is I guess, will it be viable enough for Mits to be able to even consider it in any of their future RPTV's? I mean how many more years will RPTV's remain viable?

I'm wondering if next year they still will be, and if they still are, more than likely not in 2014 perhaps.......?

Then again, just thinking about it now, maybe 4K would be a strong selling point that helps keep RPTV's around awhile longer.

Well, they said that future 4k2k TVs would include the new technology, and they only make RPTVs...

As is usual with all press releases from manufacturers, it doesn't guarantee that they will do it. But it proves that they are looking at it. Mitsubishi is an innovative company. I wouldn't count them out.
