Hello all. I have a simple question and didn't find what I was looking for with a search.
I want to rip my BDs to my iMac to watch on my Apple TV. I've already done so with my DVDs but haven't gotten to my BDs yet. I did a couple test conversions which worked fine but created 10-12GB files after conversion using handbrake high profile. I'm wondering if it is possible to get them closer to the 3-4GB files that movies purchased through iTunes usually are. Also, I have 4 iPads (2 original, 2 new) and 3 ATVs (2 2nd gen and 1 3rd gen). If I rip BDs at 1080p will they work on all my devices?

Yes it's possible but you're going to be looking at 720p instead of 1080p. Not sure what you're using for the decryption part but if using DVDFab, at least in my experience, check the remove HD audio box prior to decrypting or you'll get out of sync audio/video. Just use the default Apple TV 2 preset in Handbrake and you're good to go, no further tweaking needed. I don't have any iPad's anymore but it works fine for ATV3 and on my Mac's.
