I have installed a recently purchased Sony bdv e580 htib just to simplify things. For the most part it functions ok, although sound levels could be better, but my issue is while I am playing back a dvr'd show and fast forward through the commercials, it will drop the sound once I hit the "play" button. The only remedy is to rewind very briefly then start play and all is well. This does not happen when I am watching through the TV speakers, only when the htib is in use. I freely admit that this may be a minor inconvenience but I happen to dvr a lot of TV. I run Cable box (Pace RNG 200N) via HDMI to TV, digital optical from cable box to htib and htib via HDMI to TV. I have this set up because I don't always want to use the htib, TV speakers are ok for the news, etc. I have turned the settings on my cable box to "LPCM" from "auto" and it has not made any difference. I have also turned off just about everything I can in the settings menu of the htib that might be a hinderance and so far no luck. Please someone offer a suggestion, otherwise this thing goes back to Best Buy and hello separate components.
