It's just that when I read people raving about Rythmik and how accurate it is and how it's the greatest sub for accuracy, surely I want to go and pay extra $220 for that F12 and be 100% happy ... or think that I am 100% happy. :-)

I just faced this same question.

Mains are paradigm studio 60s. Choosing between SB12 and F12. Moving up from Klipsch KSW-10. I went with the SB-12 for the following reasons (in no particular order)
- Oppty cost is low for the SB12. If I dont think it is enough the return will be much cheaper than returning a 100 pound behemoth (with packaging)
- Size. Live in good sized loft, but would prefer to avoid huge, 80 pound object if possible. I love the look of my Studio 60s, but I want my speakers to stay out of the design of my place as much as possible.
- price. If it is possible to get great sound and save a appox. $300 I am all for it
- 5 year warranty on everything. Amp in my previous sub just went outside the coverage period.

I recognize that this choice gives up a bit on the low end.

SB12 arrives tomorrow. Will let you know my initial impressions in my set up.

SVS Sb12-NSD for $650 (shipped) is out?
$238 is not a problem for me, IF and only IF it's actually worth it.

The rythmik will be approx. 960 shipped (not sure if they charge tax as well).
SB12 - about 690 shipped (tax charged)

No, since I bought speakers from Ascend, I get a discount on Rythmik Sub ... so total shipped is $888.

Regarding SVS .... why tax? They are not in NY. right?

I have never been charged tax when I bought products from SVS. I don't live in Ohio.

Its the law in ny, although not all Internet retailers comply. Amazon does though. No more tax free shopping. Disadvantages local brick and mortar retailers
