I'll cut right to the point and hopefully get some answers as I'm a bit confused when it comes to 3D.
I own a Samsung UN46D6420 TV (LED and does 3D)
http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/tv-video/tv/led/UN46D6420UFXZC
I never bothered using the 3D and I've only become interested recently.
Which brings me to my questions -
1.) My setup - I plug my notebook into the TV via HDMI. I have a 3TB external HD connected to the notebook which is running XBMC. I play movie content from the HD via XBMC.
What software do you guys recommend for playing 3D content from a PC to a TV? I think XBMC does side-by-side 3D but not certain.
2.) I want to go completely digital with my movie collection as I have 100's of DVD's cluttering my apartment. If I'm getting a movie online what 3D format should I look at? I don't get this side-by-side or top-to-bottom stuff. Regardless I just want a 3D format that will work on my TV using my notebook.
3.) What glasses would you guys recommend?
One of the only pairs I seem to be able to get in my area are - Samsung 3D Active Glasses
Model # SSG-3550CR
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007IHEPW2/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm hoping to buy some 3D glasses this coming weekend and giving it a go. I do not want to go the Blu-Ray disk route if possible. I don't have the room for more clutter.
