HTPC + projector. Which one do I calibrate?

My htpc is using media player classic home cinema with ffdshow to watch all my media content. Do I need to calibrate my video card and projector's settings or just one of them?Does it matter which one I do first? I believe ffdshow does all the rendering so do I ensure to turn it off on the video card?

Both, but do the projector first.

You will need software to calibrate the video card, if you don't have something that can tweak the video card lut, then don't adjust the HTPC at all. The controls in the video driver do more harm than good.
