List of HDTVs that play nice with Macs?

I am currently using a 2011 Mac Mini connected to my Sharp LC42SB45U via HDMI cable. The image was never great due to overscan issues and I had to use SwitchResX (explained here) in order to get a proper image.

It seems like this solution will no longer work with Mountain Lion. I am in the market for a new TV anyway, so I was wondering if the overscan issue is common with a lot of other tvs, or is this just a problem with the Sharp set that I currently have? I brought my Mac into Best Buy the other day and plugged it into an LG TV there and it seemed to have the same problem, but I was told by an employee that I couldn't do that before I was able to play around with the TVs settings.

Anyone know which brands play well with Mac HTPCs?

My Sony 52" XBR5 just worked with the Mac mini display preference. However, my older Sony projector didn't (long time ago).

I have a 2010 Mac Mini Server connected to a 37-inch Samsung and a 40-inch Philips. I've had a lot of problems with the Samsung's HDMI handshake causing kernel panics, but no problems with the Philips. The Samsung is connected via the built-in HDMI port and the Philips uses a third-party mini display port to HDMI adapter. With both TVs, I don't believe that I had to do anything special to get them to sync, but in both cases I did have to calibrate the color to reduce contrast and sharpness.

Although I've had a lot of luck with Samsung computer monitors over the years, I won't buy another one of their TVs. The jury is still out as to whether I'll ever buy another Mini.

My 2010 Mini (running SL) is connected by HDMI to my L42S503 (42", a few years old) Hitachi LCD at 1080p, and seems perfect when the aspect ratio is set to Full. Auto aspect produces a bit of overscan.

Edit; Now in Auto with overscan turned off, looks fine. Set to 720p instead of 1080p or the menus are too small to read from my chair, across the room.

My Late 2009 Mac Mini works great with a brand new Panasonic 42ST50. I'm using the following: MiniDisplayPort-HDMI adapter for HDMI to the TV and stereo mini to the analog-in for sound.

My 2010 Mini running Lion works great with my Mitsubishi 92840 and 73C9. Hooked up with HDMI. Just needed to adjust the Underscan slider in Display Prefs.
The HDMI carries audio and video to the TV. Also using the optical out for my receiver and a handy freebie in the menu bar to switch between HDMI and optical audio. http://rogueamoeba.com/freebies/

I have Minis connected to a Sony, LG Smart TV (3D) and a Samsung. All are 55". They all work great. All connected via HDMI.

I have late 2009 mini running WIndows 7. Plays nice with Vizio XL32V 32" LCD TV. Does have overscan issue and TV can't shut off. In snow leapoard, just have to turn off overscan in the display settings. Windows 7, just upped the resolution to 1080.

Plays very nice with a Panasonic Plansa TCP55VT50. Just had to go into the TV settings for vido and change to video 2 (shuts off overscan). Only tried in Windows 7.

All were tried with the mini-disport to DVI->DVI to HDMI adapater->TV HDMI port. I suspect the VT50 will play nice with the VGA input.

I ended up purchasing an LG 47" 3D TV, and it works perfectly well with my mac mini as long as you label the input "PC."
