On the HVLP sprayer it worked like a champ the beauty is that there are very few parts to clean, no hose to clean. The overspray was minimal and I just sprayed them all on my workbench with a sheet of plastic. My problem was all those nooks and crannies that would have been impossible with a brush required quite of few turns of each piece and a lot of angling of the gun to shoot into every corner, But it worked and I'm going to keep in in my truck.

It was from a local carpet store, I think it was a Shaw carpet. If it is critical I can stop in when I get home the end of the month.

I used 35 watt frosted GU10 bulbs on the perimeter but upped it to 50 over the screen in the 4 inch Utilitech cans. The picture you posted is a 4 inch Halo can with regular Edison base blubs I used those over the seating. I think I used 65 watt in those , can't remember.

Well I have my design from the Erskine Group - I keep coming back to this thread - I really like the look of the theater.

Couple more questions - what is the ceiling height in this room? In particular - the screen wall?

Also - what speakers did you end up going with?

Ally from memory they are Royal Pacific step lights from Wayfair. basically a Christmas light bulb holder that fits in a single gang box. Comes with both covers, vertical and horizontal. Does not give off a lot of light if that is what you are looking for.

Another Great build and very impressive. I am wondering though, I see so many of these builds that get finished and I am sure that they sound great. However, few people discuss just how well they have managed to keep sound inside their home theater. Big can you comment on some of the builds that you have done? Obviously you are comfortable in your sound proofing approach as you use a similar approach on most of your builds, but how much sound is usually heard upstairs in these builds? I am still kicking around building under the bedrooms or on the other side of the house.

Isn't 11.5' from screen to first row a little too close, how was the experience in first row? Also, with just 23' length, the bar section in back must be just 5 feet, wonder if that would fit any stools. And if this layout did work then this is very optimal utilization of space.

In my 1st HT, I was 10' away from a 100" diagonal 16:9 screen, and both me & my wife feels like we could go for a 110" especially for scope movies. Therefore, I would say 11.5' for a 116" diagonal 16:9 screen is a pretty good size for both movie & TV/sports. But again, everyone's preference & vision is difference tho. cool.gif

I'm 11ft away from eye to 175" scope screen (6ft height IIRC). No way too close for me. I think some viewers want another foot or two though.

There is no better konwledge than making mistakes. I have redone my theater 2 or 3 times already, I demolished my basement and I'm working from scratch now. You will make mistakes. Stop reading and start hammering.

Beautiful build Mr. Big.

Love the bevel where the seams of the red panels come together and your pilaster design is amazing. Yet another build that I will shamelessly steal some ideas from wink.gif
