Libratone Contest & Q&A: Discuss Wireless Speaker Tech and Win a Libratone Live! - Page 4

The speakers look great. I browsed the website for more specs and with the driver layout it seems like with proper placement it could give you big sound from a single speaker. I also found something that was a disappointment though, no battery. It seems like such a great speaker but with the high cost it would have been nice to have one and move it to multiple rooms. It even has a handle on the back!

Do you ship these with multiple power cords? Is the power connection a standard size so that customers could purchase more power supplies at a low cost? It would be nice to just have a plug waiting for it in a few spots to plug it in; having to plug into an outlet and hide the cord each time would be a hassle.

After reading more about the product what I would really love would be to have speakers in every room and be able to stream to them from my devices without worrying about wires everywhere. That would be pretty awesome. I love the sleek design too.

1. Tell us how you'd use wireless speaker tech in your home

I'd FINALLY get wireless speakers setup in my outdoor gazebo, people come to my house and we have an old school boom box for sound - seriously, it is from 1987! LOL

please help me catch up with the 2012 scene smile.gif

Thanks for the offer but I own WAY too much speaker wire to justify wireless speakers...Of course, if I won a free wireless speaker system it could convince my wife that we could sell some of it on e-bay. biggrin.gif

I've spent so much time over the years fishing wires through walls. It would be great to have a great sounding system and not have to open up the walls or fish wires to keep them out of site. I would use them in the bedroom and outside.

What we mean by iDevice is, iTouch, iPad, iPhone. :-)

We are always looking to expand the line in the near future. Battery powered could be a possibility in the near future. The speaker comes with one standard power cord. You can always purchase standard power cords for this application.

My question is would you consider a rounded curvature enclosure as that would make the sound crisper and output more audio from the source material? I see that is is square shaped with round edges, but I would think circular would be better?

Thanks for the input...It's actually more like a triangle shape with rounded edges. It looks and sound amazing!

Is Airplay the only way to feed them?

Yes, it works only with Airplay for wireless but it also has an AUX input.

Retail for the Live is $699 or $799 based on the color. The Lounge is $1299 or $1399.

I'm wondering, what are the options for playing music to more than one unit using the same iDevice? Could I have multiple Libratones going at the same time w/ the same source?

Both your questions are possible...You can download Apple remote from the app store and this will allow you to control multiple speakers with separate volume control from your touch, iPad or iphone. You can also do this right from itunes from you MAC or PC :-)

My question is, are there any ways to use this system with an Android phone?

As far as we know, Twonky app seems to work pretty well...

I haven't been apple-ized. If I win the speakers I might finally make the plunge for an iPad, tho....

What is the normal audio delay for your wireless speaker?

What is the colour on the subwoofer...

Edit: Ah it is a soundbar.

Hope the fabric is strong enough to withstand the vacuumcleaner, as it will collect lots of dust quickly, in that UK review video the bigger soundbar is already full of white hairs/lint, almost out of the box.

3.5 mm, but no RCA. No HDMI Audio either.

But it is wireless, so it should bring sound beyond the PC, as I never bothered running cables anywhere. Hopefully it works with non-Apple players too, that's not that horrible iTunes for PC, but just Winamp/VLC, and so on?

It's a nano...no airplay frown.gif So nothing in iTunes in my pc to enable? Oh, well. Just got my first wireless subs, tho. That's my whole of Apple consuming since they got started, so I still say I haven't been apple-ized like many I know smile.gif

Looks like the perfect solution to providing sound outside at the swimming pool. With two teenagers and many pool parties it would be great to win a set. It is not uncommon for more than one iphone to be around. How would it handle more than one iphone trying to send it a signal?

I am definitely in love with the styling. I can foresee guys rejoicing as they will now receive little (if any) flack for wanting to modernize their speakers. I would love to see a surround wireless system. My wife cringes everytime I run wires for my home theatre setup. Where and when will I be able to see these on the East Coast (New England)?

No wires is good for me, would love to get rid of the clutter in my living room. Pick me please smile.gif

I'm a tech geek, and audiophile that just can't afford to buy an audiophile grade system. I store all of my music digitally on my computer (In fact, I have a whole Terabyte of music), I currently have a stereo, but the wires are a hassle. I must run a 3.5mm audio cord across the floor from my desktop to my stereo. It would be awesome if I had a stereo with WiFi capabilities so I could play music from my computer without quality loss or the hassle of wires. I love the idea that you guys put into play and I would be thrilled to test this system out and continually share with you my experience and reviews about your system.

I would think the best use of wireless speakers is for the rear speakers in a surround setup. I find those speakers are the hardest to wire. cool.gif
post #113 of 134
I'd use the wireless speakers in place of rear in-walls in my bedroom. I've got a lot of outside walls that make routing speaker wire quite difficult. So I'd definitely consider using wireless instead of in-walls for that.
I would use them for listening to music while I work in the garage or in the kitchen. Plus its my birthday today. ;-)
Replying with eminent fervor! I like the bluish black one. I imagine what I'd do with this is help support the movement of music and sound throughout my home. This seems fairly mobile for those purposes and what I really mean is sometimes I like to be outside on the patio, sometimes I'm working in the garage, sometimes I just want to relax in the computer room. Moving giant speakers with cables is highly troublesome and this seems more convenient and easier to manage. It would also defeat the need for smaller radios. Like an earlier poster, I'm also curious as to the coloring but anything dark suits me wink.gif

Cool speakers. Like to use them w/ my iPod
post #117 of 134
I'd use it for my iPad, computer music library, HT system.

Do you have to use a computer or specific software or hardware system (e.g., Apple)?

What's the range? Power requirements?

Thanks!
I'll take one for the bedroom. Just email for address... :-)
Is there any way to use to use it to listen to the TV in another room? I'd love to have one in my kitchen, and my TV (DirecTV receiver) is in the living room.
I would use to replace the sound bar in the family room.
