Do you have a Smart phone..
Android or iPhone..

Both have some great SPL measuring apps available..
Apple has VUMeter, which I use frequently.....

Just my $0.02... wink.gif

Very simple..
The basic idea is to have the SPL (volume level) from each loudspeaker to be of equal level @ the listener's sitting position. Use the Test Tone with the AVR it will go to each loudspeaker, set the AVR volume @ about -25dB. As the Test Tone goes from 1 loudspeaker to the next, using the remote control set for Channel Trim level, adjust its volume level to be about 75dB an ddo it fro each loudspeaker. Note that here the actual AVR volume setting is not crucial but it is important to have each channel @ the same volume level....
For example, if the left front loudspeaker is too loud compared to the right front, then this will pull the surround sound field out of balance. Once the levels are set, you can go always go back and adjust it more if you want the front loudspeakers to be louder or softer compared to the rear surrounds.

SPL meters can be had at the Shack. There's where I picked mine up many years ago for the same said purpose of balancing the speakers.
