Timbre Matching

Can someone give some links to in depth explanations of timbre matching? Or try to convince me why it's so important? I have went my entire life and never had a timbre-matched front 3 speaker set-up. Is it possible to timbre match different brands? If I can't tell that there are different brands/timbres, should I even bother timbre matching because isn't the only thing that matters is how I hear it ? :P

It's not as important as some might want you to believe but see it in the light of having four different tires of the same size on your vehicle. I'm sure that when driving down the road, other than each tire having it's own road noise, you won't notice.

Timbre/voice matching is really quite important, especially if you want more then a jumble of noise while watching your TV.

To an extent, yes. After all, you're the one who has to be satisfied. That being said... if you had the opportunity to hear what a properly tuned and timbre matched system sounds like you'd understand the difference. Instead of a cacophony of noise it's a symphony of sound.

No, because different companies go about reproducing sound in disparate ways.

I don't have timbre matched and to me my speakers flow really well together

Speakers that are not timbre matched, in the simple have a fingernail on the chalkboard, jarring quality to them. The closer the timbre match, the smoother the overall sound quality. A reaction along the lines of; Now that's what I'm talking about!

If your muscles are tight and the hair on your arms is standing up and you find yourself wanting to kill your system, you don't have timbre match. If you're kicked back, feeling all warm and fuzzy all over, you have timbre match. It's that or sonically you're brain dead which, if you think about it, is a good thing. With many here, it could go either way.

lol, only feel that way when i hear tv speakers XD

What do you think of the timbre matching between polk LSIM 704C and polk lsi9's?

I can't say for Polk Audio as personally, I moved away from them as fast as possible. Why, because I found them too laid back for my upfront aggressive tastes.
